The annual review of the Springboks’ performance in the Vodacom Tri-Nations will be scheduled with Springbok coach Peter de Villiers for later this month.

The review will cover all aspects of the Springboks’ performances.

“All rugby followers are extremely disappointed with results in the Vodacom Tri-Nations, as are the Springbok team and management, of course,” said Mr Oregan Hoskins, president of the South African Rugby Union (SARU).

“We take the situation very seriously but there is a process in place and we will follow that through.”

Mr Hoskins said that there would be formal discussions with the coach about some of his reported comments.

He added that he had written to the family of Johannes Mogale to express the Union’s support and condolences at this time of mourning.

SARU has said in a statement that it will make no further comment until the review process is complete.

Picked up this view on IOL

It was sad to hear the crowd of just over 38 500 jeer every time their former hero Habana was involved or awaited a high kick.

Springbok coach Peter de Villiers, in addition to an appalling record this season, must take the blame for continuing to play an out-of-form tired player who deserved better than this predictable response from the supporters.

His replacement Gio Aplon was loudly cheered when he replaced Habana in the second half.

If the SARU management does not make any changes to the Springbok management team, they will prove to me they are inept at dealing with the real issues at hand and are basically accepting defeat in the RWc next year.

Let’s see whether these guys have the nuts to do what is necessary, or whether they are too bowing down to the demands of Political correctness over performance.

None of the coaches will lose their jobs, mark my words..

@ Winston:5 – Winston, Agree there. NONE of the coaches will be fired. Though if only we could get a new backline and forward coach that would help for now. Don’t think PdV will lose his job. Not this close to the world cup.

@ superBul:3 – Super, Yes heard it loud and clear on the tv. Blame it on the coach for selecting Habs when he is totally out of form. Most supporters have had enough.

Just to think a few years back he was everyones hero, every little boys hero too. They all wanted to be Habanas. Shame to see such a great player going down like that. He will be back but think he needs more advice from a better backline coach.

Aplon was very good when he came on. Think I was SHOUTING here so loud. “BRING ON APLON, BRING ON APLON FOR HABS” Shame really that it has come to that. Habs was one of my favourite players. Aplon just has been so much better than Habs this year though. One of the youngsters would have been better too. Basson or Mvovo. Both would have been better even if they never played test rugby.

    Aplon should have started.

Habs gets good coaching from a top backline coach, he will be back to the top, but unless he gets help from a really top class backline coach he may never be.

Its a shocker Puma, how we keep all of them as coaches I will never know.. Its like they want us to lose the World Cup next year.

@ Winston:8 – Winston, I have no idea either. But even if we got a new backline and forward coach that would help. Conditioning coach, defence coach, just name them specialist coaches. Bring them on board. The more the better. PdV should be surroundind himself with all the rugby brains he can get. With these players we should be winning not losing.

How can we take almost complete control in the 2nd half? If we done that from the start we would have been away like a race horse.

Remember the Bulls started 2010 S14 with that run at all cost game , just score more tries than the opponent. I published a post about that before. Something like 5 or 6 tries to us but also 3 to 4 for you. The fact was the Bulls tightened up their defense and in the last 2/3’s of the campaign conceded less than 2 tries per match.

That is how the 2 antipodean teams play, lucky for them we dont run back at them , we are playing our structured game and slowly creep back, haul them in.

When we were with our backs to the wall on Saturday we started running like mad too. Just sad we were caught napping right at the end watching the linesman and unresponsive Ref. Bad , bad concentration. But really we were all over them.
