    1@ Bluebeard:
I like your team, except I would play JP Pietersen on the right wing… and let’s give Aplon a run at fullback… see how he goes, he kicks less than Zane and maybe the Bokke need to kick less uppies.

I know I should be positive ect ect ect….but I just can’t see us winning the AB’s missing FDP,Brusow,Bakkies,FS and JF. I really hope I’m wrong….would love to see the Boks beat NZ

    Positive yes, but not stupid…

Daar’s net te veel jakkalsies wat die wingerd verniel in die Bokke kamp op die oomblik.

“Francois Hougaard will start against the All Blacks and perform a similar role to that of Fourie du Preez.

Du Preez watched from the stands as the Springboks trained at Hyde Park High School on Monday. The Boks’ premier player is sidelined for a year, Ruan Pienaar is also unavailable through injury and Ricky Januarie is struggling for form and fitness.

From the way the Boks lined up on the training pitch, Hougaard is being viewed as the solution. He will partner flyhalf Morne Steyn as the Boks look to implement their kick-chase strategy this Saturday.

Other changes should see Gio Aplon at fullback with Juan de Jongh joining Jean de Villiers in midfield. JP Pietersen is also set for his first Test start in 2010.

Lock Danie Rossouw didn’t train with his team-mates, as he’s still recovering from the hip flexor injury he incurred last week. Rossouw practiced his running on Monday and according to the Bok medical team has made significant progress. He’s expected to be named in the starting side.

Two Bulls players who featured in the brutal Currie Cup contest against Western Province are unlikely to be considered for the match 22. Bok team doctor Craig Roberts told this website that Dewald Potgieter (neck whiplash) and Zane Kirchner (twisted knee) will be monitored in the next 24 hours before a final call is made.

Roberts also confirmed he is yet to receive any information regarding Frans Steyn’s injury. The Racing Metro-based player arrived in South Africa last Thursday after undergoing a scan to assess the seriousness of his leg injury. The results of that scan and the nature of his injury are yet to be released from the French club.”

See, now there’s where I question the wisdom of the Bokke coaching staff… Hougie has not played scrummie regularly for a while, so his tactical kicking from the base won’t be nearly as spot-on as Fourie du Preez’. He has different qualities though, sniping around the fringes, keeping and recycling possession well..

With him we should keep possession, play the possession game and put a large part of the kick-and-chase game on ice…

The rest of the backline looks good, hope Jean is in better form at inside centre than he was on the wing.

One thing that the Bokke should be unwaivering about for this game and the future is to COMPLETELY expell dirty senseless play… cut the tip-tackles, cut the head butts and the nastyness… and play hard, uncompromising but honest rugby…

@ grootblousmile: I agree GBS, but Ricky’s kicking has been horrible…Hougie’s can’t be worse. We need to start training someone to take over if FDP get injured ect… I’m not saying Francois is the best person for the job, but it’s worth a try

Nothing wrong with Hougie…. but one needs to play the type of game your troops CAN PLAY….

Wtih Hougie not scared to break around the fringes, the Loosies must play a lot more to the ball… damn we need to arrive at the breakdowns in a position to dominate….. and then do so!
