South African Rugby Union President Oregan Hoskins is the next target of SANZAR bosses, as they continue their ‘attack’ onΒ  the Springbok camp.

The Afrikaans weekly, Rapport, reported that Hoskins on Thursday received a letter from the SANZAR secretariat to “explain” his ‘declaration of war’ statements made last week.

rugby365 reports as follows

Hoskins, on Sunday, was unwilling to comment on the latest public spat between himself and his SANZAR counterparts.

This follows in the wake of the SANZAR disciplinary hearing at which Bok coach Peter de Villiers was charged with misconduct.

De Villiers’s SANZAR disciplinary hearing took place last Friday in Cape Town, but judgement was reserved. De Villiers was facing misconduct charges for a statement made on Australia’s Fox Sports ‘Rugby Club’ programme on July 21.

Last week the SARU boss, Hoskins, said they will defend the Bok coach, De Villiers, ‘to the hilt’, because of what he feels is an unfair attack against SA rugby.

Hoskins, speaking to rugby365 last Wednesday, confirmed that the “declaration of war” statement attributed to him earlier this week was a true reflection of his feelings.

It has become clear in the last few weeks that SARU’s relationship with its SANZAR partners is at an all-time low – that after Hoskins labelled SANZAR’s disciplinary hearing of De Villiers as “a declaration of war by Australia and New Zealand against South Africa”.

Hoskin is the best of a bad bunch of administrators ar SARU.

He needs replacing with a real hard nosed businessman capable of telling the ANZAC alliance to f*ck off in such a way that they ask where they can book the tickets.

Hoskins is a bigger doos than Bob Dwyer IMO, and nearly as big a doos as some of the provincial CEO’s in SA.

Hoskins is a fool. He must remember that SARU are willing partners in SANZAR and his own organisations incompetence has led to his own feelings of inadequacy. Just look at the capitulation of the S15 negotiations to see where the faults lie. In SARU’s own offices, that’s where! And his victim complex means one thing, not looking inward and finding out how best to repressent South African rugby, but rather blaming everyone else.

If SARU have concerns, they should air them in the appropraite forums and back up their points. Look at O’Neill for a few pointers. He might be a dick, but he knows how to get everyone else around to his way of thinking.

So Hoskins should man up, show who’s boss, and throw the whole bloody book shelf at deVilliers. Behind closed doors, and with dignity. The Boks reputation as the whingers of the rugby world is just being amplified by these idiots.

What concerns me is the lack of Professionalism.
A Morne’ du Plessis would be the right man to run SA rugby, I think Fitzpatrick might end up ultimately running NZ rugby and he is a professional too. But like Morne’ he is also too busy making money at the moment.
SA is fundamental to the health of SANZAR, why dont we use that to our advantage….my conclusion has to be that Hoskins is not enough of a heavyweight and does not know how to capitalize on our advantages. We have the biggest crowds and hence we attract the most money. When Argentina come into it, it wont get better as rugby plays second fiddle to football in that country too.
There is a helluva case for Super 14 teams to play Heineken cup. The Three top teams in any year should play Super 12 and the 2 bottom teams should play Heineken cup….much more exposure, much more skill building. Or maybe first, third and fifth should play S12 and the second and fourth play Heineken cup. More revenue for us and would put Sanzar in their place.

For R5 million a year, I will run SARU. this offer is good for 48 hours.

    @ 4man:
The brotherhood of love between the 2 neighbors is a tough one, they never let us in and they never will. We will always be 1 against 2. If we can get Argentina in properly with all the voting rights it might help. Maybe the the rotating chairmans vote will help us when we have the chair.

@ superBul: If the “brotherhood of love” has anything to do with sheep, then I think we shouldnt get involved!!!
