Both Gary Botha and Derick Kuün are on the injury list after Saturday’s momentous clash against WP. Dewald Potgieter and Zane Kirshner are also injured in addition to being with the Springbok squad.

Gary Botha is expected to know then whether he will miss the rest of the Currie Cup after injuring medial ligaments in a knee during Saturday’s 12-15 defeat to Western Province at Newlands.

Botha already left the field in the first half and was replaced by Bandise Maku, who worked hard in the loose but was not accurate with his lineout throws.

“I had a similar injury in England when I played there last year,” Botha said.

“I was out of action for 12 weeks then. I had to choose between surgery and rehabilitation, and decided on the later. There will probably be clarity on the injury on Monday, but I’m not very hopeful.”

Kuün will be replaced by a fit again Ockie Kruger and Dewald Potgieter will be replaced in the starting lineup by CJ Stander, who had a good game as a replacement on Saturday.

Gary Botha’s place will be taken by Bandise Maku, with Henri Bantjes coming onto the bench as substitute hooker.

Frans Ludeke, Blue Bulls coach, is not worried about the big gap that has opened between the Bulls and the two front-runners – WP and the Sharks, who play one another on Saturday.

“There is still a lot of rugby to be played and the competition is a long way from over.”

I don’t know this Henri Bantjes at all, but Maku had a good run Saturday, carried the ball strongly and generally plays well.

Replacing Kuün does not phase me much either… but Steggies is still about 3 weeks away from full injury recovery…. so Ockie better step up well.

CJ Stander has got oodles of talent but runs a bit upright into contact, needs to tweak this aspect of play.

But damnit man, we need another fullback… Moses needs to go rest somewhere near Mount Arrarat….
