Friends,

Birthday celebrations are in order for Rugby-Talk today, we’re a year old, TODAY!!

Happy, happy… and a big thank you!

At 12:00 SA Time we throw the blog open to unregistered users as well for the day… hoping they behave according to your and my standards here!

I will have a few words to say when the celebrations start… to spell out what has transpired on Rugby-Talk in this short year and what our immediate plans are for the future, what the plans are on the commercial side here at Rugby-Talk, et cettera.

I will send out an E-Mail circular this morning to all registered users, kindly forward it to every Rugby-Talk Blogger you know, let’s see how many of our bloggers we can gather here for the celebrations this afternoon! It might just get totally crazy here if we manage to get everybody here!

Of course, no rugby blog will be complete without some fun and a good old rugby game to blog on… so we’ll cover the Leopards vs Sharks Currie Cup match in the evening and we’ll spread the celebrations over to Saturday as well where we will cover both the Lions vs Cheetahs as well as the WP vs Blue Bulls games.

There were suggestions that we hold a function at a venue here in the Johannesburg area… well that would be a bit unfair seeing as our readership basically spans the globe, so plans will be made for a few get-togethers in due time in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban… and possibly in England and amongst the Ozzmob and the Kiwi’s as well.

In the meantime, charge your drinks… we will each cyber celebrate today!

Time stands still for no-one, so I have not had sufficient time to finish the “NEW LOOK AND FEEL” of the web site and have decided that we’ll celebrate our birthday with our “OLD JACKET” still firmly in place… to be replaced and tested by the new one in a few days time. It probably also makes more sense to stick with the familiar and gradually move over to the new format.

Hope you have a fabulous day.

Treat each other well, treat our visitors like they belong here… and goooooooooooooooi mielieeeeeessssssssss!

Regards,

grootblousmile

    Anyway, here it is:

    Hello friends,

A full year has passed since we started blogging on our home, http://www.rugby-talk.com

    The year flew fast indeed.

On the rugby front we had the joys in 2009 of seeing the Springboks win the 2009 Tri-Nations, the Bulls winning the Currie Cup 2009, a bit of a disasterous End of Year Tour for the Springboks. In 2010 we were entertained in the Super 14 and no less than 2 SA sides reached the final, with the Bulls winning the competition for a 2nd year in a row. The June Test window consisted of 4 wins, the best being a good win against France… then followed the start of the Tri-Nations and we were disapointed with 3 losses by the Bokke on the trot, beaten by on-fire All Blacks and a rejuvinated Wallabie side. We are now in week 6 of the Currie Cup of 2010 with WP leading the standings.

On the web site front we have been very successful, the site is performing far above expectations, the banter is good, the fun enormous!

A few small hickups ensued, nothing to write home about.

We seem to have angered some Lions supporters in the Super 14, but be assured we were actually only disapointed in their form and they already look much better under John Mitchell. Here’s hoping they retain Mitchell somehow and regain some of their former glory. Would be good if we could let bygones be bygones and get more Lions suporters blog again. Some WP and Stormers supporters felt some anti-WP sentiment, but hopefully that has all been put to rest as well, our WP bloggers seem to have swelled amongst the blogger numners as well.

We have some exciting prospects in mind, with a “New Look and Feel” planned in a few days… some commercialization in mind and some general improvements at Rugby-Talk in general.

At 12:00 SA Time today, Friday 13 August 2010 we plan to have a few celebrations going on Rugby-Talk and we want as many of you as possible to join on the blog in discussion and to celebrate with us.

A hearty word of thanks to all our Blog Authors for their contributions, without you I would not be able to cope alone. Special thanks to my fellow webmonster, superBul, for his tireless work on Rugby-Talk…. Thanks old tjom! Special thanks go out to all our registered bloggers for your comments and for the spirit in which the site is enjoyed. To our visitors, welcome and get busy registering!

Rugby is our love and focus and this is exactly what joins us all together as a family.

    Warmest regards,

    Grootblousmile

Three little ducks go into a bar…
“Say what’s your name?” the bartender asked the first duck.

    “Huey,” was the reply.

    “How’s your day been, Huey?”

“Great. Lovely day. Had a ball. Been in and out of puddles all day. What else could a duck want?” said Huey.

“Oh. That’s nice, ” said the bartender. He turned to the second duck, “Hi, and what’s your name?”

“Dewey,” came the answer from duck number two.

“So how’s your day been, Dewey?” he asked.

“Great. Lovely day. I’ve had a ball too. Been in and out of puddles all day myself. What else could a duck want?”

The bartender turned to the third duck and said, “So, you must be Louie?”

“No,” she said, batting her eyelashes.

    “My name is Puddles”

    GBS…………….

Site looks great, dont know why you want to revamp it.

All you need to do is make it so you can read all the pages with the phone and not just the one that is currently being used.

And noooooooooooooooo it is not my cell, i can go onto any site on the web and browse pages with ease.

  • 148

It is not convienant to lug a laptop around outside or in the queue at woolies and pick n pay.

  • 149

@ Treehugger: Hugs….don’t sort out the Freetstaters….you will have no players left in the Sharks team if you do 🙂
