Springbok Team for Saturday

Injury-troubled forwards Bakkies Botha and Danie Rossouw have been passed fit to play for the Springboks in the Tri-Nations rugby opener against the All Blacks in Auckland on Saturday.

Botha (hamstring) sat out training earlier in the week but was named today to lock the scrum with Victor Matfield, with giant Andries Bekker on the bench.

Rossouw, who was battling a hip injury, was also listed in the reserves in a largely predictable Springboks lineup named by coach Peter de Villiers.

Jean de Villiers was selected on the wing, with Wynand Olivier and Jaque Fourie teaming up in the centres, while combative halfback Ricky Januarie was named to face All Blacks No 9 Jimmy Cowan.

    Ek sou nie kans gevat het met twee half beseerde spelers nie. Dewald Potgieter sou vir die rede my reserwe losvoorspeler gewees het.

    Dan wens ek Butch James wil net “disapear” weggaan. Ek kan maar my woorde sluk as hy die seisoen goed vaar , maar ek weet nie wat soek hy daar voor Peter Grant nie.

    I am not too impressed that we sit with a Northern Hemisphere Ref.

    Team is good, would have liked to see 1 change, Butch replaced by Juan de Jongh (Ruan covers both scrummie and flyhalf).

    We will have to live with Ricky for now, he’s the scrummie who has now been practised into the team and played the last few games…. not happy with it but that’s the current situation.

    net so bly die rugby begin weer alhoewel ek moet se dat ek die world cup baie geniet het, daar was so moerse nioce vibe in die land!!!!

    Wonder wat is die plan met FH in die bokgroep. Skrumskakel of vleuel ?

    Dink hul moes hom gelos het om skrummie te speel vir die Bulle, sodat hy reg kan wees as hul hom nodig het daar as die Bokke terug is vir die tuisbeen van die 3N.

    Dink hy, De Jong en Dewald gaan begins splinters optel, as daar nie beserings is nie.

    Ek sal, as ek bokafrigter was, sorg dat my beste 22 altyd beskikbaar is (op toer), en dan die volgende beste spelers (23-30) toelaat om in die CB fiks te bly. As beserings inkom, dan word hul ingetrek.
