Sharks coach John Plumtree  although resisting to unsettle the team that has performed thus far, has  been forced to make a couple of changes due to injuries,  and for the most at the same time has stuck to the same starting line up that did duty against the Puma’s in Durban last weekend.

Players out due to injury are Alistair Hargreaves and Micheal Rhodes, with Monty DuMond dropping out of the 22 altogether, returning after an ankle injury is Steve Meyer, who slots  back into the flyhalf birth to resume his partnership with backline that showed so much promise in the match against the Blue Bulls 2 weeks ago.

New signing Ross Skeate will partner Steven Sykes at Lock, and Springbok Ryan Kankowski will slot in at the back of the scrum in place of the injured Rhodes,” Plumtree felt he want to stick with the form players that had served so well during this period”, in doing so inform Keegan Daniel moves from 8Th man to flank and Jacques Botes retains his place on the side of the scrum.

Players that have not fully recovered from injury in time for this weekend are, Jannie DuPlessis as well as his brother and fellow Springbok Bismark DuPlessis.

On the bench Ruan Pienaar and Andries Strauss come in as backline cover with Willem Alberts and Jean Deysel covering loose forward and lock  respectively, also on the bench is Beast Mtawarira, Eugene Van Staden , and Kyle Cooper, with a 5-2 split Plumtree undoubtedly is taking no chances with a very strong Free State pack.

Sharks:15 Louis Ludik, 14 JP Pietersen, 13 Stefan Terblanche (captain), 12 Patrick Lambie, 11 Lwazi Mvovo, 10 Steve Meyer, 9 Charl McLeod, 8 Ryan Kankowski, 7 Keegan Daniel, 6 Jacques Botes, 5 Ross Skeate, 4 Steven Sykes, 3 Wiehahn Herbst, 2 Craig Burden, 1 Patric Cilliers.
Replacements:16 Kyle Cooper, 17 Tendai Mtawarira, 18 Eugene van Staden, 19 Willem Alberts, 20 Jean Deysel, 21 Ruan Pineaar, 22 Andries Strauss.

must say i am a little surprised but also glad plumtree is seeking continuity

i am a klittle scared of the free state scrum but at the same time this self same young sharks front row did extremely well against the more experienced blls front row a few weks ago

does anyone know when craig joubert will make his inspection of the melbourne pitch?

    o,
and i’m not discussing cricket here, believe it or not!! 😀

  • 3

    from supersport.com

South African referees boss André Watson does not believe Craig Joubert will be under any added pressure because he has to make a call on whether the Tri-Nations test between the Wallabies and All Blacks in Melbourne can go ahead.

“Craig will decide whether it is dangerous or not. It is part of a referee’s job,” said Watson.

Joubert will examine the playing surface at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday and then make a recommendation to International Rugby Board (IRB) referees manager Paddy O’Brien.

ok, soooooooooo does anyone know whether the inspection took place as planned
    and
what the recommendation to the irb was?

I like that bench of WIllem Alberts and Deysel, Free State are going to hurt when those chaps come on in the last 20 mins.

Sharks team looking damn good. What a bench too. See Deysel and Alberts on the bench. Fair I think to Keegan who has played really well. Wow!!!! We have depth in the loose trio.

See Beast is back too. Going to be a cracker this game can’t wait.

Kom ek stel dit so.

    Conrad Jantjies
    JP Pietersen
    Juan de Jongh
    Patrick Lambie
    Lwazi Mvovo
    J-L Potgieter
    Ruan Pienaar
    Kankowski/Vermeulen
    D.Potgieter/K.Daniel
    Deysel
    Anton van Zyl
    Flip van der Merwe
    Brok Harris
    Gary Botha
    Beast Mtawarira

    Enough said

As mens die spelers van AL die provinsies wat die naweek speel insluit, sal DIT my span wees

    Jantjies
    Peterson
    De Jongh
    Le Grange
    Nokwe
    J-L Potgieter
    Ruan Pienaar
    Kanko
    Juan Smith
    Deysel
    Anton van Zyl
    Flip vd Merwe
    Harris
    Botha
    Beast
