The Blue Bulls Company would like to announce that tickets for the Super 14 semi-final match at Orlando Stadium in Soweto in two weeks time will be available soon.
Due to Loftus Versfeld being evacuated to make way for FIFA, final logistics and ticketing purchase outlets will be announced as soon as possible Season ticket holders will have first option to purchase tickets.
Suite owners will be allocated free tickets according to the size of their suites and will have the option of buying hospitality packages. Finer details in this regard will be communicated to the suite owners by the BBC as soon as possible.
The public can buy tickets through Computicket at a date to be confirmed soon.
Transport and logistics
The BBC is investigating three possible options for fans to travel to Orlando Stadium.
Option one: By train with Metrorail. Stations of departure will be confirmed, with a temporary station to be established 70 meters from the stadium.
Option two: Park and ride from SuperSport Park in Centurion. Buses will depart from there and take spectators to Nasrec, outside of Soweto, where buses will run continuously between Nasrec and Orlando Stadium
Option three: Park and ride from Nasrec. Around 10 000 safe parking bays at Nasrec has been booked to accommodate those wanting to travel there by car. Buses will run continuously between this venue and the stadium. This venue is ideal for those who prefer to have a boot braai before the match.
It is important to note that there is no parking available at Orlando Stadium. Tickets for these options will be available at Computicket. This will include all train, bus, park and match tickets. Beer tents will be available at Nasrec and at the stadium. The BBC encourages and invites supporters to use these facilities and help create a special day for rugby and the Vodacom Bulls.
Other food and drink outlets will be in operation and cater for supporters. All drop-off and pick-up points will be clearly marked and managed by crowd marshals and security. The BBC is working closely with the JMPD, The City of Johannesburg, Orlando Stadium management and other relevant parties to ensure that their fans will enjoy a safe and memorable day.
The CEO of the BBC, Mr. Barend van Graan would like to thank these parties for their co-operation and assistance and their role in making this day possible.
Sound and solid arrangements, it seems…. good on you BB Company…
I’m worried about the size of the pitch and whether it will be able to accommodate proper dead ball areas. Those pencil slim dead ball areas like they have in England rob the game of potentially some of the game’s most spectacular tries.
2@ Kitaartjie – Have you been to Orlando Stadium?
Reports are that it is a very nice and modern Stadium, to all intents and purposes better facilities than Loftus, Newlands, ABSA Stadium and Coca-Cola Park… only seats about 35 000 though, I believe.
Those who have been there sing the praises of the Stadium….
GBS, don’t get me wrong. Its a great, great stadium, but it is taylor made for soccer in terms of length from what I could make out from the PSL games I’ve seen on tv.
I take it that you’ve been there yourself. So, can it handle a proper dead ball area?
4@ Kitaartjie – Never been there, in fact I’ve never been in Soweto in my whole life.
#5 Haai sies, skaam jou, GBS?!!
Had a wonderful friend and colleague who used to stay in Meadowlands before cancer took her away.
Anyway, I might be wrong about the dead ball areas. Let hope so for the game’s sake anyway.
6@ Kitaartjie – Never had reason to go to Soweto, being from Pretoria I have been in Mamelodi and Attridgeville, have also been in Alexandra, and in Daveyton and Tshakane since being here on the East Rand.
What should I have gone and done in Soweto?
Anyway, I suppose I will be going to Orlando twice, soon enough….
GBS Ain’t freedom of movement a great thing, hey? I can still remember those days when we couldn’t go to Mamelodi or Orlando and I don’t miss those days much…
What do you think will be the level of support the Bulls are going get in Orlando? I’m sure the BBC might have some research on that before they settled on Soweto?
8@ Kitaartjie – Only time will tell….
I think the reason that there is no parking close to the stadium swinged their decision. look lets be honest here, no boertjie will want to drive his car right into soweto(safe or not), thus the parking at nasrec and the busses. I think the train might be a good mode of transport to get there, as long as no-one complain about my cadac filling the carridge with smoke. hehehe
