There’s been a lot of speculation whether the last Bulls try, that of Francois Hougaard on 81 minutes, was indeed a try…
Well have a look at the following photo’s, then decide for yourself!

Many a cup was won and lost on forward pass tries, off side drop goals etc, it is the nature of the sport.
Forward, not forward, who cares. The first Hougaard try was any way ofside and forward passed.
It happens. Some you get, some you dont.
BULLE !!!
LoL, those pictures actually show clearly that the pass was forward. Just because you caption it saying it’s impossible to be forward, doesn’t make it so!
But anyway, water under the bridge and the result stands and we are all happy our champion bullyboys pulled it off and maintain their unbeaten record at Roftus. They are oozing confidence and self-belief and the only thing that might cause them to lose is not having the play-offs at the Bull-ring. Also good that the try stands for my stormpoppies sake, but if i was a kiwi, i’d be crying and screaming and throwing my toys out of the cot π
My objektiewe mening is: opsie a is reg, vir die blote rede dat Maku vinniger is as Franks, soos die foto’ duidelik wys ! π
One comment on the Naas Botha explanation. The rule book states a forward pass and not the position of the hands. Thus Naas is taking a wild guess. The pass could have gone forward, but due to the short distance it is impossible to rule a forward pass. The referee has to blow what he sees and not take a guess like Naas due to the hand position of the passer.
The head of Maku acts similar than a foot, thus Hougaard must be level or behind Maku when it touches his head.
To me this try look legal to me.
GBS excellent job with the photos, either myself or those that say forward pass need glasses π
SAINT i had tears of joy in my eyes towards the end of the game. π
First FH try was not passed forward. Clearly passed backwards if you look at the slow motion replay. FH juggled it for 5 meters. It looks forward but it wasn’t.
Regarding the FH’s second try: If Maku passed it forward then Franks would never of touched the ball because he was behind Maku.
I hope the Bulls 2nd team will loose narrowly to the Stormers. It will be good for SA to have 2 sides with home Semis’. Huge financial implication. And then a SA side got to win the S14.
I bet I would have been able to hear the Bulls Supporters screaming all the way up here had the shoe been on the other foot …
Bulls lose to Crusaders IN CHRISTCHURCH by dodgy referee call made by NZ referee in the 79th (or 80th) minute & thus secure a home Semi-Final for Crusaders …
Yeah right …
41Rugby_Princess
My Crusaders mates all say it was a 50/50 call and have no problem that the try was given.
Richie should count himself lucky for not getting a red card during the game. Bulls got carded for a spear tackle and not the Crusaders. There was a lot of dodgy ref calls and most of them favoured the Crusaders.
Rugby Princess π of course their would have been complaining, its human nature.
How are you ?
Just watched the replay on Supersport 1. Maku pass was clearly backwards. That is a try. Finish and klaar.

I am tired today … had a busy weekend traipsing all over the Chinese countryside as a tour guide for a friend & a high maintenance friend of hers … my ears are still ringing from all the high pitched chattering ! Look, I can shop for 90 minutes, then I am ready to stab myself in the eye with a pencil just so I don’t have to do it anymore π
I’m not discussing this forward pass anymore. Its clearly an internal Bulls issue started by a Bulls legend. I’ll await the official response following their Bosberaad on this and other important issues like the dodgy hairstyles of the team tipified by both their hookers, centres and stand-in left wing.
As Blou Oog Wandelaar will attest, this is not what a Boerseun rugbyspeler should look like.
Hou dit Blou!
46@ Should a player rather look like Joe Pietersen… or Schalla… or like Fransie Steyn?
I thought it was the rugby which counted….

GBS and Blouste,
You see their you Bulls ouens go again: Blou Oog Handelaar (who is a Bulls fan as you might have guessed) commented on the looks of Steggmann vs F Louw and came to the conclusion that he preferred Stegmann because he looked like a ‘boerseun’. So, looks are important to some of you ous their in Tswane.
I quote the words of Blou Oog Wandelaar en julle bollie in daai klein blou onnerbroekies van julle; I quote a Bulls legend like Naas on comrade Maku’s forward pass and you guys are all up in arms.
Wat gan an da bo, ouens?
