A four week suspension is what Bakkies received after his hearing as we all read on a previous thread. Is it fair ? Look at the footage and read further on the rule that was applicable…
Citing Commissioner Freek Burger cited Botha under Law 10.4 (h) for dangerously and recklessly entering a ruck without using his arms or grasping a player. Botha made contact with Stormers right wing Gio Aplon in the second minute of the match.
I for one clearly see his arm making contact with the player basicly simultaneously as the rest of his body or head. Also what about he Stormer player entering the ruck just a split second after Bakkies ? I don’t see much of a difference. Surely Bakkies entered from the side and wasΒ rightly penalised. A 4 week suspension, you decide…
I’ve added another clean by Bakkies to draw comparisons for those who would be interested.

Jou klip, clear as day…
Op ‘n ander punt…
Aplon het darem vreeslik vinnig herstel π―
In all fairness, the charge was a bit dangerous, but 4 weeks, what a laugh! He did use his arm and anyone with proper sight can see that.
#127
Ons is Stormers…wat verwag jy?
rugbybal
Jy is briljant!!!
Saint, have you got your prescription glasses on ? π
Wat? Nee!
@127 Ja ek sien, act soos ‘n sokker speler.
@ 131 – The Saint

Pierre Ribbens het my eenkeer amper so getref, was vir so 10 minute bietjie duislig…
@ 133 – I’ll take that as a compliment π Especially since there’s nothing wrong with my eyes… π
@ 136 – The Saint
#138
Nope, maar my reflekse is deesdae bietjie beter.
@ 136 The Saint
Eina liewers jy as ek. Net een vraag, was hy toe ge-suspend vir 4 weke?
sorry here i am watching the clip again for the 100th time , and never is it from the back
my only complaint is this , why is others that do the same not treated the same way ?????
in the sharks / stormers game ruan was hit from the side in simular fashion by a stormers forward and only a penalty was given
surely if they are going to cite for this kind of thing it must be the same for all players or teams

Eish !

Sharky the citing is for dangerous play, not entering from the side.

Nie eers Schalla was so bad nie, dit het hom ‘n game of twee gevat voordat hy aan die ref gestamp het.
sharky_forever
Nobody is disputing the fact that it was’nt from the back…
More the use of arms etc…
yes i know saint im just saying it was also from the side as someone earlier said it was from behind
i agree it was reckless and stupid and dangerous blah blah blah
but i am also saying there is no consitency in citings for teams or players
i have seen other players do far worse and more dangerous , and nothing was done
He he he
Ja ou Schalk…
