Inspirational Brumbies fullback Julian Huxley has become the 19th signing to the Melbourne Rebels Super 15 squad.

Two months ago, and two years after having a brain tumour removed, Huxley astonished the rugby world with his courageous return to the Brumbies side in a game that saw him inspire his team mates to victory.

Now the 30 year old, in the best shape of his career, is ready for fresh challenges with the move to Melbourne for the expanded Super competition in 2011.

“I’ve had amazing support from the Brumbies and the rugby community in Canberra, particularly over the last two years, and now need to start a new chapter in my life.

“It’s very rare to get the opportunity to be a part of a start-up, to help build the foundations of a club. I am extremely fortunate to have this chance.” Huxley said.

“I have enormous respect for Rod Macqueen and look forward to helping him deliver on his determination to do things differently with the Melbourne Rebels.

“I must say I have a more holistic approach to life through my recent experience and I expect Melbourne to offer as much off the field as on.”

In commenting on the signing of the 9-capped Wallaby, Coaching Director Rod Macqueen said, “Julian has shown great form since his return.”

“He brings with him a fantastic attitude to life and the game we can all learn from. He is an intelligent player who will make a significant contribution to the Rebels.”

Howzit Walla? You looking forward to the Stormers/Tahs game? What your take? Think Tahs could win?

    Hey PUMA

    Howzit mate.

This is a really tough one to pick out.

I am leaning towards the Stormers for a win at the moment.

    Things to consider…..

The waratahs are difinitely not the same team thatlost 27-6…there last game at Newlands is not a consideration for form.
Does Januarie get picked – not really good defensively. Get passed him sets a disjointed stormers back line in defense.
Stormers defense on a scrum is quite flat – two places to attack – chip over or the backline or target januarie channel. (hurricanes used a similar style to stormers and waratahs practised their moves against them)

Key for waratahs is this – BURGESS. He plays crap then it is good bye to warras. he plays well with accurate passes – the ball game is on.

Key for the stormers – Bekker and tight five dominating. if they do then warras cannot score without the ball. Stormers backline looks like the bok lineup.

So far I see the stormers forwards doing their job.

If warras surprise then the final is in Sydney otherwise the final is in Cape town.

    Puma

when do you head off for your deserved break?

3 – Walla, Remember Tahs played Stormers and yes got smashed then the very next week at altitude they had a brilliant game against the Bulls. Still rate that game as the best of the tourney. So don’t think it is going to be easy for Stormers. Think Stormers to win but not by much. Or it could go either way.

I leave tomorrow……..hehehehehehaaaaaaaaa. Looking at the clock now..haha. Leave early around 6am tomorrow morning.

How you dong? Hope well. How is the weather there this time of year? Is it similar to Durbs or a bit colder? I now Brisbane is similar to Durbs the weather.

    5 – now = know.

Sydney at this time of the year is terrible. Cold and wet…winter rain.

In the mornings it should get down to between 3-8 degrees.

Durban has the best weather at early winter time…the best in the world as you say.

Used to stay at amamzimtoti, Umhlanga, salt rock, margate and port shepstone. Just too awesome during the early winter season. Although never been to Durban area mid to late winter.

    Puma

    I am well.

Work is just too busy to even think of taking a holiday. I have had to shelve my plans for my trip to Africa for this year. Will be heading over next and will let you know when I am close to your neck of the woods.
Hopefully we will be in contact with each other still.

Will be good to have that drink together… 😆

Walla, sorry to answer this late. Just a bit of work between blogging today.

Yes thought Sydney colder this time of year. Brisbane maybe a bit like Durbs. Umhlanga is magnficent now. I am still up in Joburg but my Daughter says it is still around 28 everday with full sun. Even better comes June and July temps at 25 full sun no humidity either. That is the best time of year for me.

All those players are great for holidays Walla. Umhlanga’s little town has turned out great. Nice vibe down there.
