lol puma and do what?? i have been in this trade for 33 years mate

  • 63

@55 I think it’s a bit arrogant to say i don’t know what i’m talking about mate. It’s a matter of perspective. True that SA has a crime problem, but i’m talking about excessive negativity and ALWAYS running the country down about everthing and never seeing any good. I know i would prefer living in SA to anywhere else in Africa without a seconds hesitation…

53 – Turk, I lived in Holland for awhile but came home. Some things that happen her mate are terrible. Would never happen in Europe.

    VRYSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT

  • 69

Sharky i don’t disagree with you about the crime mate. You’re not getting any argument about that from me. That wasn’t my point. Not saying one can’t complain about ones country. What i’m talking about is the inability to see ANY good in the country on the part of some people and the total one-sidedness of SOME people – not saying anything about you, mate.

59@ Puma – Luckily Tjarkie was’nt at the Restaurant at the time…. but an off-duty cop was… so he popped one of the robbers quite a few shots with his 9mm pistol….

He had a dum-dum starter and a full metal jacket main meal… hehehe

  • 71

  • 79

@67 Lived in SA until 2001 and travelled all over the world mate. Just giving my opinion. Europe is bliss when it compares to the level of crime, no argument there. It’s one of the great things about Italy. The crime here is one of the lowest in europe. I am not arguing about the crime but let’s not give the impression that you can’t turn around without getting killed. I face constant questioning from euro friends that have the most ridiculous impression of the SA situation and think one needs to go around with armed guards and other stupid things and i’m just tired of having to constantly face this barrage of misconception…

  • 80

Geez Sharky 300 seater…….that is big. We are a 140 seater.

  • 81

hiyas loskoppie and yeah we a 580square meter restaurant

  • 82

Some of my mates here worry about me when i tell them i’m going home for a visit. They worry i won’t make it back alive and think the country is worse than iraq or afghanistan! Within reason mate, that’s all i’m saying…

  • 83

Turk, I have worked in both Bosnia and Afghanistan. As long as you stay on base or in the green zone you are safe. The difference is that crime is quite low there, terrorism is the problem.

  • 84

77 – Sharky, Scary stuff man. Pleased you were not there. See why I say I never like to drive anywhere at night here in Joburg.

I had a huge tragedy 6 years back. My brother was murdered. He was 4 years older than me. Very close. Still miss him huge. Almost left this country again. But stayed. Some really bad stuff goes on here.

  • 85

Sharky, what is the name and where is it?

  • 86

Look, I’ve also faced 4 armed robbers (1 April 2005), bad farking April Fools Joke…. fark… but yet SA is still the land of milk & honey.

One learns to be a bit more vigilent and and watch your back, close gates ect… but compare the full package and lifestyle to anywhere else, I’ll stay here thanks…

  • 87

you know turk if it was like iraq one would have a better idea of what to expect

here what makes it bad is you think its normal , you think its safe and yes many think it wont happen to them

  • 88

81 – Sharky shows these criminals know no bounds. Even if a restaurant is full they can hold it up. Damn scary that.

  • 89

Sorry loosehead but that’s just ridiculous mate. How can you ever compare being in SA to being in Afghanistan???

  • 90

sorry to hear that puma , but yeah i love SA and will find it very hard to leave here perminently

loskoppie mate you want me to divulge my where abouts right here?? lol when you phone rudi he can tell you on the phone 😆
