We can argue till the cows or is that the Bulls come home. Here is a small survey to play with. If you want more questions to be asked suggest them in the comments. I reckon that FdP will make the difference between the 2 teams. he sparked the rout last year against the Chiefs. He also buried the Crusaders last week with that 2 brilliant breaks.
The most important thing of winning a game is applying and absorbing pressure.
@ superBul:
Hey superBul
Sy oge so groot soos pierings
so half stert tussen die bene
Toe hy oor die pad is gee hy my so jammer kyk
lig sy voorppot op en se
Bulle!
Nou ja
As ek ‘n afleiding moet maak sal ek se die Stormers gaan soos bokke in headlights wees
🙂
Bulls 29
Stormers 17
@ Die Boek:
voorppot = voorpoot
So die pale is gedek.
Bulls need to smash the Stormers up front like the Sharks did, and let Morne’s boot do the talking. Stormers don’t commit many players to the ruck, and that is where the Bulls need to smash them.
@ Greenpoint-Gunner:
What you say is so true, the Stormers is the one team that can match the Bulls in all positions. I think BMT might just be the difference. What makes me happy about the Bulls is that they dont get rattled easily.
How many times this year they came back from a big deficit to overhaul the other team, and boy when they past then they dont take their foot of the pedal.
I wont be surprised if we start slow again. I just hope that Blue Machine starts up. Not much can stop that bulldozer.
The other thing i still believe can help my team is the rest / non rest. By now the Stormers must be running on instinct, this is a very long season and that rest week we stole might just be what tips the scales. I hope. 😆
ek dink ricky january gaan die verskil wees.
Wezwp wrote:
Jy is reg.
🙂
No need to ask the experts when you could’ve just send me a mail, and have all your questions answered.
Loose Trio definitely the place to be…Craig Joubert + Deon Stegmann = Penalties Galore. Without the ball, FDP and MS are taken out of the game completely. At least, that is how I would have approached the game.
My opinion is one of the Bulls’ talismans in Pierre Spies, will suddenly be a liability, because, as I have told GBS the whole season, the Stormers’ backrow is not in the classic, No. 6 Fetcher, No. 8 Coverer and No. 7 Runner mould. All three compete at the breakdown, all three take the ball up, all three can pass, and all three have notched up a surprising number of linebreaks this season.
Listen, I am not saying we are going to demolish the Bulls, I am just saying, a Bulls victory is definitely not as clear cut as you might believe.
Peter Grant at altitude can approach place kicks of up to 60 meters. He has a 86% accuracy rate this season, and is in the top 5 point scorers, even though he only started kicking for goal in round 6. Something to keep in mind, if the Bulls mess up, they can be punished.
This game is going to be epic.
We all know that finals are won up front.
The reality is that the Stormers tight forwards are suspect when the going gets very tough in the tight.
The Bulls should plan to put massive pressure on the Stormers tight five in the scrums and also by keeping posession and driving at their forwards and committing them to the tackle.
The Bulls pack with ball in hand like this and Fourie at number 9 will beat most teams in the world more often than not.
The Sharks simply outmuscled the Stormers a couple of weeks ago and the Bulls should do the same.
No hasty predictions from me…. this is going to be a difficult game..
Like most here have said, not much between the sides as far as quality is concerned, so the team who plays exactly as a team and use all available opportunities, will win.
I recon experience and the home town Soweto factor is on the Bulls side, but maybe flair is on the Stormers side…
Bulls have scored by far the most points in the season but are leaky on defence out wide…
Stormers are solid defensively but have failed to score much with their conservative approach… this past weekend they scored 1 try only…
Who wants it more??
I hope Craig Joubert is not a factor in this game…. I worry that the only games the Bulls A Team lost, were both reffed by him…
You should have had the 9 and 10 as a combination in your last question.
@ grootblousmile:
I will do it for you.
Bulls by 10 in the end but for 60 minutes a tight affair.
Bulls will hit a 6 to 8 point lead and grind the win out getting a few more penalties in the last 15.
Their experience, specfically at 9 and 10 will carry them through to victory.
Bulls by 12
40 – 28
17@ Morné:
Hello, I hope you don’t Jinx the Bulls with such a bold prediction….
Game can fall either way…. one brilliant break by Gio or Habana or Jaque and the Bulls are on the back foot…
Similarly, one brilliant break by Fourie du Preez or Spies or Wynand Olivier and the Stormers are on the back foot…
I wonder if the Stormers will come out firing like they’ve done all season and whether the Bulls can contain them in this part of the game…. I feel that if the Bulls are nearly equal or just ahead at half time, that they’ll win… because they’ve ended games better all season than the Stormers…. even the Bulls B-team ended stronger than the Stormers a couple of weeks ago….
The Bulls will have to be switched on from second No 1… like against the Saders this past weekend…
I’m getting more positive as the week goes on…

And thats my conservative prediction 😉
@ The Saint:
I would like to see Grant kick a 60m kick.
His success rate is very good yes, but his range…the Stormers rarely kick anything further than the oppositions 10 m line….
If Grant kicks 60m penalties on the day, then Morne will kick 70m penalties 😉
@ grootblousmile:
Difference is Bulls have shown they can either take the lead, and keep it, or fight back from a deficit.
I dont think the Stormers ever fought back from a deficit to win a match this year, either they are in control or they are not.
On pure technical or rugby ability this game can go any way.
However, I think this game will be decided on nerve, and who has the most of it, and for that, the Bulls experience is the clincher.
They do not panic, do not flinch, and never gives up.
I’m very positive going into this match…
I know on the day anything can happen, ask us Bulls after 2005 CC final… 🙁
But I still think the Bulls have got the best team overall and will take the Stormers down !!!
I for one feel more comfortable being a Bulls supporter ahead of this game than I would’ve being a Stormers supporter.
If I’m proven wrong I’ll be back to eat my humble pie.
‘Till then…
BUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLS all the way !!!!!!!!!!!!!
21@ Morné:
You going to the game??
If so and if as Media Man (arranged with Michelle)… then also consider the Media Bus from Vodaworld in Midrand…. take a little Cooler Box with the necessary…
We’ll have a party on the bus, then at the Stadium, then back on the bus again….
Easiest arrangement you can make…
@ grootblousmile:
Could not get a ticket my man…
Bastards.
If the Bulls play the way I have described above and do not allow the Stormers room to counter attack from the back, meaning that they need to read how the Stormers handle the ball in the air at the back and adapt accordingly, by not allowing the Stormers to open up the game, then the Bulls will strangle them with slow poison, and win with their forwards on top at the end.
@ The Saint:
If this game turned out anything but epic I will be very dissapointed.
I predict Bulls by 7+ but do so with my heart in my mouth.
An injury to any one of the key Bull players and it is there for the Stormers to win.
Similarly, only one concetration lapse and a try later (as Dewald had in the semi) and Stormers can take it!
The next three days are gonna be torture!
hokaai @ 26
why do you thnk I’M so laid back?
waaaaaaaaaaaay too long before this game start!!

I hope it is not a game like this 😀 we need some competition.
Right now i am perfectly set up for the biggest bashing of my life.
If the dam wall shows a crack , the Bulls will get it to break. Be warned.
Hmmm, would’nt a repeat of that final just be magic !!!! 😆
