You find that concept genuinely intriguing yet a bit of a conundrum don’t you ?

A defeat against the Western Force at Coca-Cola Park will see the Lions equal the record of 11 consecutive defeats in a Super rugby campaign currently held by the Bulls with their sensationally abysmal 2002 season.

However as 2002 was only Super12 & we now have Super14 the Lions charge for a place in the record books will not end on Saturday – they have the opportunity to secure the record for themselves simultaneously relieving the bulls of what is probably the only record the Bully Boys are not actually proud of.

The Lions remaining games are against : Force, Blues & Cheetahs : to be played at either Johannesburg or Bloemfontein.

The Force have travelled, the Blues performance is frankly anyone’s guess from week to week & the Cheetahs may have found their spine in the Waikato – So the season outcome at both ends of the ladder remains a genuine mystery. How exciting !

There is big trouble in the Lions den. Dedicated Lion websites ran stories about the mismanagement in the Union, asking for scalps etc. this week but in the press there is no mention of that.

One of the websites lost it accreditation.

    Look at the two camps
The Press gives a sort off positive outlook with articles like this

    Lions want to arrest slump

Johannesburg – The Golden Lions Rugby Union wants to strengthen its coaching and playing staff as soon as possible in a bid to halt their continued slump.

Union president Kevin de Klerk believes this is possible and new sponsorships that the union are working on may well be crucial in paving the way.

    Websites run articles like this.

What the hell is going on?
What is going on within the walls of the GLRU? Why is this union in such turmoil? Is it mismanagement and what is the problem?

Manie Reyneke revokes my media accreditation
Apr 26, 2010 – I was told today that my media accreditation at the Lions was revoked by Lions CEO, Manie Reyneke. He apparantly didn’t like the fact that one of the members on my forum suggested that we start a petition calling for the resignation of the Lions CEO. Apparantly the same post was made on the official Lions site’s forum, so I wonder if that means that whoever own the official site will also not be welcome at Ellis Park. I wonder who owns the official site?

Something is brewing, but one thing is certain.
    THE SUPPORTERS ARE FED UP

Thanks Princess for reminding us of the Bulls bad run in 2002 πŸ˜†

How they have changed that around though? To winning 2 S14 cups. Maybe a 3rd coming up too.

Hope something can be done for the Lions. That was a really big proud union in my day. Not called the Lions then but still the same union. Really want to see them back up there where they should be. Hope next year it turns around for them.

Morning Tripps, How you doing this fine morning? NO rain today and sun is back out πŸ˜€

  • 7

Where is everyone, such a big weekend of rugga coming up.

  • 8

Gbs, see you up there. Morning, have you decided to go to the Bulls/Stormers game? I think you should. Make plans now though see tickets are hard to come by. Then maybe you can get some tickets in the press box πŸ˜€

  • 9

Lets hope the Lions dont break the record,it will make me feel better if the Bulls hold that awful record πŸ™‚

  • 10

8@ Puma – Tickets is not the concern…. the actual time to fly down is… I mean, I do not want to fly the Saturday morning and rush back Sunday morning…. I rather want to take a leisurely Friday flight… and then fly back the Monday or so…. relax a bit, maybe ask Handbriekie whether she wants to go see some tjommies in The Strand… I want to see Pieta & Koningkie… ect.

  • 11

Gbs,if tickets are that easy and you dont go to that game thats unacceptable and you are getting owned by your wife πŸ™‚ Rugby is forever..

  • 12

11@ Winnie – Tickets are NEVER a problem anymore… Rugby-Talk is now OFFICIALLY part of the Media, just like Rapport or Sunday Times or SuperSport…. so we not only go to the games, we get wined and dined and watch ruggas from the Press Suites at the Stadia in SA by the home Union for the game…. and if we want, all over the Rugby World…

  • 13

10 – So GBS, GET CRACKING go man, just go. What you waiting for? LIFE IS TOO SHORT, this is a massive game, you have mates down there too. GO ONLINE NOW and book youself a ticket and take your wife with. Cape Town is magnificent place just go.

You can get a booking but you need to do it pronto. Like this very minute.

  • 14

13 – GBS, you go to Cape Town, Tell Pieta and KingPaul howzit from me. YOU have to meet Ash too. He is my favourite Stormer supporter. Also one of our biggest bloggers here. Tell him howzit from me too.

Have you booked yet? I will keep on at you until you do.

Go online now it takes less than a minute to book.

  • 15

14@ Puma – I just wish I knew where the semi’s and Finals would be held…. if I fly for the game on 15 May, then I would realistically not fly down for the semi and or the final too, however, if I’m patient and not fly for the 15th’s game, I might fly for the semi and or final….

See what I mean…. it depends where The Bulls and Stormers end up…. might have to wait 2 weeks before I plan my trip quickly…. the only thing that means is that my plane tickets will be a bit more expensive… but what the hell, that’s the least of my troubles!

  • 16

15 – Gbs, Man the semi going to be up here at Orlando Stadium.

You want to see Stormers and Bulls go to Newlands.

    Book your flight now.

  • 17

The Lions breaking the Bulls record is immaterial. What is important is that the Force, Blues and Crusaders all lose their games this coming weekend.

  • 18

    GBS @ 12

I can even get you accreditation in the Kingdom if you like.

We don’t have a Press Suite, or a stadium for that matter, and we haven’t played an official test for something like 4 years, but I can get the accreditation.

Oh yeah, the golf is cheap here, but grog isn’t.
