The Sharks have managed to resolve England flyhalf Andy Goode’s work permit issues and the veteran No.10 will start in the Super 14 Round Eight match against the Reds in Durban on Saturday.

A veil of secrecy was thrown over the issue while he was touring with the Sharks, after joining them in Australasia over a month ago.

It was reported that the 29-year-old, who has 17 England caps, would not return to South Africa due to problems with his work permit.

However, he did arrive in Durban with the rest of his teammates earlier this week and Sharks Commercial Manager Rudolf Straeuli confirmed that the work permit issue has been resolved.

“We wouldn’t have selected him [to play against the Reds] if it was sorted out,” Straeuli told rugby365.com, when questioned about the matter.

The other feature of the team is the enforced move of veteran back Stefan Terblanche to outside centre – in place of the injured Adrian Jacobs. The move, to name him ahead of an established midfielder like Waylon Murray, will certainly raise a few eyebrows.

Terblanche will play his 100th Super Rugby game for the Sharks.

The rest of the team is pretty much as expected.

A front row still featuring captain John Smit at loosehead prop and the two Du Plessis brothers, Jannie and Bismarck, alongside him, is backed up by Alistair Hargreaves and Steven Sykes in the second row – the result of Springbok Johann Muller still being sidelined by a fractured finger he suffered on tour.

The Sharks: 15 Patrick Lambie, 4 Odwa Ndungane, 13 Stefan Terblanche, 12 Riaan Swanepoel, 11 JP Pietersen, 10 Andy Goode, 9 Ruan Pienaar, 8 Ryan Kankowski, 7 Willem Alberts, 6 Jacques Botes, 5 Alistair Hargreaves, 4 Steven Sykes, 3 Jannie du Plessis, 2 Bismarck du Plessis, 1 John Smit (captain).
Replacements: 16 Craig Burden, 17 Tendai Mtawarira, 18 Wilhelm Steenkamp, 19 Jean Deysel, 20 Rory Kockott, 21 Andries Strauss, 22 Lwazi Mvovo.

Date: Saturday, April 3
Venue: Absa Stadium, Durban
Kick-off: 17.05 (15.05 GMT)
Referee: Chris Pollock (New Zealand)
Assistant referees: Vinny Munro (New Zealand), Marc van Zyl (South Africa)
TMO: Johann Meuwesen (South Africa)

Send the rapidly balding Northern Hemisphere styled stoic (and IMO k@k) number 10 back to Coventry.

Worst FH to be imported into SA IMO. (Maybe not. Spencer is totally useless)

    grootPienk,

We had a choice of either Goode or Dumond…..not a real choice really, both rank about the same in my book.

For the last 20mins. we’ll be a world class side though, Ruan at 10 and Kockott at 9.
