Chiefs coach Ian Foster says his team needs to improve their execution on attack ahead of Friday night’s match against the Stormers at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton in round ten of the Rebel Sport Super 14.
“It is essential we build on our game from last week where we showed we could compete physically and that our attitude is right. We have had a demanding week at training – working hard to get our game where we want it to be.”
“I’m pleased with the effort and honesty of our senior players this week. We now need to improve our execution of our attack.”
It is an unchanged Chiefs backline from last week. While in the forwards young up and coming prop Toby Smith earns his first Chiefs starting spot. Smith, 21, replaces Sona Taumalolo who sustained a shoulder injury and is set to see a specialist to determine the extent of the injury.
Smith has enjoyed three Chiefs caps this season, all from off the bench. Experienced prop Nathan White returns from a back strain for a spot on the reserves bench.
The Chiefs team to play the Stormers this Friday 16 April at 7.35pm at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton is:
1. Toby Smith
2. Hika Elliot
3. Ben Afeaki
4. Craig Clarke
5. Culum Retallick
6. Liam Messam (captain)
7. Tanerau Latimer

9. Brendon Leonard
10. Mike Delany
11. Dwayne Sweeney
12. Stephen Donald
13. Richard Kahui
14. Lelia Masaga
15. Tim Nanai-Williams
Reserves:
16. Vern Kamo
17. Nathan White
18. Romana Graham
19.Colin Bourke
20. Junior Poluleuligaga
21. Callum Bruce
22. Jackson Willison
In the past the Stormers tight five was referred to as the “light five”. Now what do you call the tight five of the Chiefs? That is where the Chiefs game will be won and lost.
Lets just hope the Stormers can string two good games together or they might struggle to make the Semi Finals..
Wonder how the Stormers will fare when their pivot , Grant have a off day like Morne Steyn had against the Blues.
Asking because , the players around him does not inspire me much. One must expect that your player might have a off day.
The Bulls lost against the Blues because the forwards were dominated in the tackle. But if Morne has a off day FdP will skip him or play back to the forwards.
Come tell Superbul what contingency plans the Stormers have.
anybody out there

Willem de Waal is our contingency plan. Will switch to a more boring, playing in the Chiefs halve type of a game, at the moment it doesn’t matter how we win, only IF we do.
