It seems that the Stormers are negotiating with Ulster for the services of BJ Botha for the remaining 5 weeks of Super Rugby.
Nothing is signed yet but sources are confident that a solution can be worked out.
What is strange however is that BJ Botha is a tighthead prop, whereas the run of injuries at the Stormers have been on the otherside of the scrum, at loosehead prop. First it was Wicus Blaauw who injured a hand, and this week it was announced that JC Kritzinger is out for this week’s match and a little longer.
At tighthead, Brok Harris has had a good season, far better than last year where some punters described him as “Verbrokkel Harris” – loosely translated meaning “Brittle Harris”.
At looshead prop, the Toy Story hero-lookalike, Wicus Blaauw’s injury was a mighty blow to the Stormers but with the excellent work done behind the scenes by Mathew Proudfoot the Stormers scrum was never exposed. I suppose it helps too, to have strong srummaging hookers in Tiaan Liebenberg and Deon Fourie.
Would’nt it be good if the Stormers could sign BJ Botha anyway, get the strongman back here in SA…. to make him eligible for Springbok selection and contention this year, it would obviously not only be good for Stormers rugby, but SA rugby as a whole. But go a bit further, negotiate a deal for the rest of the year and next year as well, we will need BJ’s experience and strenght for the Rugby World Cup in 2010!
I was tempted to make the headline “A BJ for the Stormers, on the wrong side” but the fairies from Slaapstad would probably have taken offense!!
Hehehehe
BJ Botha plays only tighthead. Brok Harris plays only tighthead. Are the Stormers going to drop Brok for BJ?
eish i cant believe the sharks dont bring bj home
also frans , butch barritt and a J Div
eish them my sharkies would have been dynamite
We have to wait and see if it happens. Was on SuperSport and News24 both articles the same writted by Gavin Rich. Remember we read that Butch was going to sign and play with the Stormers. Read that there too and nothing came of it.
So let us wait and see.
I too would really want BJ to be back in SA even if it meant he went to the Stormers. For now just need to see if it happens. Also BJ only plays TH. Think Stormers are needing a LH.
5 – meant written
Yip, I’m sure all you Sharkies want a good BJ!
4 – Sharky, For sure, could you imagine if we had Barrit, Butch and Frans Steyn??????????????? We would be cooking hot.
Never mind we have 5 wins on the trot now and our tails are up, still don’t have really good centres or FH. I know JPP has not being playing well either, but his defence against the Bulls would have been great. I would then have played Mvovo instead of Stefan at outside centre, that is if Mvovo can play there. Now he will play on the wing.
Some good match-up’s this weekend…
Gurthro against Doc Janie (loosehead vs tighthead)
Bissie against Gary Botha
John Smit vs Werner Kruger (loosehead vs tighthead)
Danie & possibly Bakkies vs Steven Sykes
Stegmann vs Jacques Botes
Dewald Potgieter vs Jean Deysel
Pierre Spies vs Willem Alberts
Fourie du Preez vs Ruan Pienaar
Zane Kirshner vs Patric Lambie
As for the rest, I think the Bulls have the better of things
9 – gbs, Going to be the biggie for this weekend the Bulls/Sharks game. That is if we don’t have any injuries. Any injuries to Ruan or Alberts we will struggle. Then we need them fit for the Stormers too. Phew!!! After playing the Bulls I wonder how many injuries? Going to be very physical.
NO INJURIES, PLEASE!
Fark, the Bulls are playing the Saders next!
Behave yourselves, dammit!

Nee wat, ek dink nie BJ gaan kom nie. AS hy kom sal dit nogal fantasties wees.
Maar aangesien hulle ‘n probleem het op LK, hoekom kry hulle nie vir CJ nie. Ek hoor dan hy en Rassie is sulke goeie maatjies…
