The Waratahs hosted the Sharks in Sydney, Australia on Saturday morning at 10:40 SA Time on Saturday. This is the match thread for discussion of the game. The match was broadcast on SuperSport 1 on DSTV in SA.
The Waratahs were gifted an undeserved win of 25 / 21 due to inept reffereeing, by Australian Paul Marks and his Australian Assistants, by not awarding the Sharks arguably a penalty try after a deliberate knock by Kurtley Beale, with the tryline clearly open… and by an equally inept TMO, Australian Mathew Goddard, who awarded a try which should never have been awarded. The Sharks were robbed by an Australian officiating team and questions about the absolute need for neutral refereeing will now again run riot.

THAT WAS A PENALTY TRY………….CHEATING REF. Even the Aussie commentators are saying it should have been. Disgusted now by this cheating ref. Just give them a yellow. Bugger man this reffing system has to stop.
Again the Aussie commentators saying that should have been a penalty try.
Sharks were robbed, penalty try, even the Ozzies say so, faaark this business, how can you win against this lot!
Penalty, kicked out.
Come Sharks…. only a try needed
I am so angry and upset i actually want to cry.
that stopped a try and the tosser did that intentionally knowing he would go to the bin but stopped a sure try.
Flok, penalty Tahs
Penalty against the Sharks for obstruction………I think that it was Jannie.
Tahs now grinding it out, time up
You were robbed
Shame.
Tahs steal a win thanks to some inept reffing and inept TMO
Final score 25 / 21
Ok folks, talk laters.
Tough cookies Sharks, it was close.
Tjorts.
I am going to drown my sorrows at my brothers wedding.. Chat later all.
SHARKS ROBBED AND THAT IS A FACT
I now hate aussie refs the cheating scum and normally i would never blame a ref for looseing a game but this was SHOCKING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what a cheating bunch of rubbish
I am too upset to comment, going to kick a few dustbins for my Shark friends.
Shocking display by the ref and officials.
amen gbs , dis swak broer and they want respect , they will and always have beena rubbish nation
VRYSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT! And Stormers to win this evening.

Moes ‘n strafdrie gewees het. Soos dit nou aangaan, lyk dit nie of enige van ons spanne oorsee gaan wen nie.
Well go the Cheetahs and Stormers, have you both down for a win this evening.
What is the name of this snotslime ref.
biddie biddie die bulle sal dit oorkom want hulle is tans goed genoeg
maar ja die australiers is n naasie van skelms
Well, that’s the first Tahs game I’ve seen this season – and they were RUBBISH!!!
Awful game, both sides should have called the game off and gone to dinner at Darling Harbour – they are both also-rans in this competition.
I won’t criticise the Sharks, because I haven’t seen their previous matches, although I didn’t see much to like about them; but as for the tahs, with the new playing roster, they were pedestrian. Forget long return trips from SA or anything else. This kick the leather off the ball strategy bores me to tears, and quite frankly, half the population of Sydney feels the same way. Tahs will be rubbished in the media all week and now have full stadium for future home games in jeopardy with that performance.
Fark man, I always say that a quality team wins despite a ref…. and I’m not in the habit of blaming refs for a loss, but effectively we sit here with a 14 point swing, with a dubious TMO try and a clear penalty try not awarded…. 14 farking points, 14 farking points!
Hello boys 😀
267@ R_P – Hello, did you see this game?
Shame about the Shawkies … I did not see it but will take you word on the commentary (always dire) & poor standard of refereeing (frequently also dire) …
My Saders won & I am happy about that even if they did not secure the bonus point they should have 😥
Never in my life have I seen blatant cheating by a ref, but it was a fact today. That was a penalty try in the end. Even the Aussie commentators said so. That was no try at halftime either. TMO had plenty time to replay it and gives it. Blatant cheating. Something has to be done about it. Need new rules to that. Scores should be reversed in a citing in the future for things like that.
Really if rugby comes down to cheating refs for their team to win. I will go and watch table tennis, ping pong or anything else.
Australia that was not good enough by your refs. Hang your heads in shame. That was just not fair.
