  Didn’t see the game, but understand the frustration. Sorry about the loss guys and when rugby isn’t the winner, then also bad for the overall image of the game. Good luck to Stormers and Cheetahs. 🙁

  301 – Irish, Thanks mate. I felt very frustrated with the ref. We probably would have won that game, but I suppose you win some, you lose some with the ref. Sharks just been unlucky twice now with the refs. Against the Chiefs and again today. Pity, but it does happen. Ag, it is over now move on. Think now Sharks have nothing to lose but to try out some of their very exciting youngsters.

  We wuz robbed!!!

  But sometimes you are the statue and sometimes you are the pigeon….today we were the statue!!

  Neutral refereeing is fine…unless of course you are Australian!! this is why home refs were removed in the first place. Fitzpatrick and Marshall who were in the studio in England both said the 2nd try wasnt a try, but ok it was close and the Sharks shouldnt have let them get into that position in the first place….in the old days that try would ahve been awarded anyway. But the blatant forward passes that the Aussies made were not pinged 80% of the time, SA made one flat pass on the line and they were pinged…Murray Mexted who was one of the announcers said they were hard done by….then the blatant knock down of the ball and the try line was open….that was a penalty try, definitely…I suppose Stefan could have waited a half second longer and then passed behind Beales back, but that is beside the point….like I said “we wuz robbed”

  300 – GBS – fair enough. That being the rule book’s pre-defined criteria, then I’ll go with it. However, at 22m out, you once again have to question the Probably, but then again, I haven’t got the benefit of a replay as I’m stuck on an airport out in the back blocks! During game-time and at normal watching speed, my first reaction to Terblanche’s gesticulations to the ref where he called for a penalty try, was in the negative as play was too far out.

  I do, however, agree wholeheartedly with the view in respect to neutral referees. It’s a mute point, but how many refs, of any nationality, would have awarded the penalty try in those circumstances? Why encourage the situation at all? These matches should be adjudicated by independent officials.

  ummmm, guys, when will the Refs be held accountable. No, seriously. No sports fan, no matter where he is from, will make a mistake like that (not awarding a p.try) if he knows he could be fined, ummm, lets say, about 20,000 Aussie dollars. Seriously… I om not saying that every mistake should be punished to such a massive degree, I am just saying that when 1 mistake clearly influences the outcome of the game, especially one that would turn around the season for the team that lost it, then the person who made that mistake should be held accountable and be dragged over the coals. But what will come of this? Nothing.
