It is again time for all our esteemed rugby gurus and knowledgeable bloggers to pick the South African players who performed best over this weekend. No Bulls player played this week so we can NOT pick them, even though they did enough to stay on top of the LOG.
Nominate the players , only 1 player per position, you must make up your mind. If you nominate 2 the first name will be regarded as your choice .
Make sure you pick a player in his run-on position.
Make picks before Monday 16h30.
RT will do the calculation and publish our teams
Everyone is requested to submit their teams. We will compare ours with the Team of the week picked by the Guru,s (read selectors).Lets make this a fun filled selection game.

23 – Smallies, It is called nerves. When I watch my team and it is getting close to the end and it could end either way. I go for a walk around the garden……hahahaha. Calms the nerves.
Puma om no 6 te kies was moeilik ek se jou ek kon net sowel vir Heinrich gekies het. Jis maar Schalk was n one man demolition team.

now we know, great , better than kicking the TV off the table.
Also liked Ebersons play, but Jaque played i wee bit better for me. Also that Swanepoel guy from the Sharks, i could not believe they subbed him.
25 – Super, if that was a final it would have been a dreadful. I understand how the kiwis felt when that forward pass was missed in the WC.
The reffing has to be sorted. We just can not have sub-standard refs in a huge tourney like this.
From now to the end I want a saffa ref 😆
Jokes aside think from next year it has to go back to neutral refs, but we must get NH ref otherwise we saffas have the same thing all over again.
Only really two top class refs in this tourney and they both saffas. The rest are not up to it.
@superbul nee dit voel sommer gaaf man veral omdat ons alewig in die king’s bende se vesier is maar die nog early days en ons hel downunder le nog voor.ek dink as ons die stormers kan rol oor twee weke gaan dit wondere vir ons doen
I think they must give all the SH refs a bye too. Play with NH refs and send the SH refs for a top up course. They were all the same in the first 2 weeks , now one see different interpretations again.
33 – Super, Yip Swannie should have stayed on. Our centres are not up to much although, Adi had a good game yesterday.
Deysel too should never be on the bench. I rather they start him at 6 than leave him on the bench.
Ag, just have to see how we go from here. I would play some of the youngsters now. Nothing to lose except get ready for next year.
How old are the Bulls two wings? They look very young and they are playing and playing superb. So why cant the Sharks play Lambie who is 20 years old? He is pure class. We played Frans Steyn when he was 19 years old.
32 – Super, Schalk was just magnificent. Then some of the Stormers supporters don’t rate him. I will NEVER understand that. Burger is a monster of a player. I would have him in the Sharks side without even giving it a second thought. Burger is world class. Was great to see him get that try too.
cheers almal praat weer more

Those Stormer supporters must be the puking choms.
Nag Smallies, replay die Cheetahs in jou drome, nag
Really bad news about Brussow
I hear he is out for rest of Super 14, tri nations, and currie cup.
I wish him a speedy recovery
His injury makes way for Skalla
39 – Smallies, cheers mate. Once again well done to your Cheetahs. Beating a top side like that was just awesome.
A massive blow to the Cheetahs, hope they stay positive and play their hearts out for their fallen hero.
42 – Hello Coach, Well done to Stormers they really outclassed the Landers yesterday. Schalk was outstanding. He will probably grab the chance with both hands now to take that 6 jersey back. He was simply superb yesterday.
Pity about Brussow, thought he was only going to be out for 4 weeks. A whole season will be tough. Cheetahs will miss him, he is huge in their side.
Hi Puma Yes I am not sure myabe I read older report about Brussow
Yes Skalla Smit and Spies (although Kanko is playing well in a team that is sinking)
For the Sharks its like some ex basketball player talking about his team.
“The ship be sinking”
Seems like a good weekend to have a bye.
France utility back Frederic Michalak could miss up a year of rugby after he tore cruciate ligaments in his left knee.
Sounds like the same injury that HB has. HB was in the theater late today, wonder what is the latest news about him.
This is such KUK news. Let’s get him into into surgery and 24/7 oxygen tank recovery asap! The ‘Brusky’ is a Trojan and me thinks he will surprise us all with a speedy recovery.

Ah no man, this is terrible news! He’s a brilliant player and will most likely be a key player for the Springboks for a long time to come. Hopefully, he will have recovered come Tri-Nations time, but seems unlikely. Get well soon Brussouw!
May i add to all this well wishes, get well soon Hein, you are a star player and will be missed sorely.
Superbul
47 – Super, don’t think it will be very good news, that is a bad injury. Will take a long time to heal. Feel for Brussow. A brilliant player. Cheetahs will miss him so will the Boks too.
46 – Coach, Not good for my team at the moment. Then we really got screwed by the ref yesterday. Should have had a penalty try and the try at half time give to Tahs was never a try. Was not even over the try line. They showed that on (All Out Rugby) We should have won that game yesterday. Not that it would have got us a semi or anything like that but would have given the players some confidence.
Stormers are playing well. They also bought well this year. Habs still looking awesome. J. Fourie too. I like Aplon too. Bekker playing great rugby. Actually the whole team are playing great and they looking like a happy team this year too. That is all good for a team. So good luck to your team and I wish them well and hope they make the semi and even a final against the Bulls. Now that would be awesome.
Hope the reffing improves a bit Paul Marks was very poor
Steve Walsh should calm down and not be so angry
I say so too. Speedy recovery Brussow. Not only does Cheetahs need you the Boks do too.
52 – Coach, That Steve Walsh could be in trouble. They showed you on (All Out Rugby) when he penalized the Lions he turned around to the Brumbies and winked at them. Now that is just not on. Who ever is responsible for the refs needs to look into that.
Yes I think Your boys were hard done by
As I have said if the ref give the yellow then its because he prevented a try from been scored So then a penalty try But If he was not sure a try would have been scored then only a penatly i think the try would have been scored. I did not see reply of cover defense though?
Yes I dont think TMO should have given the try But who knows what would have happened after the scrum 🙂
Kankos try bit lucky maybe too ? off sides maybe ? 🙂
Superbul, In the IPL. Where can we see who is playing in each team. I have looked but they don’t show you the players names.
I just selected a team to support on random..haha. If I don’t know who are in each team will just have to make my picks blind..LOL.
MONDAY MAUL
Part 1
It was certainly a Super 14 weekend of raw emotion. Too often fans are dished up a sanitised version of the game, because of the pressure on the main participants to take the corporate line, say the right thing and bore everyone senseless with ”don’t upset anyone” drivel.
Thankfully, behind the scenes, players and coaches at times do let down their guards and remind us they are human. In the past few days there were a couple of marvellous reminders of the ecstasy and pain involved in winning and losing.
On Friday night, the Queensland Reds enjoyed one of their most memorable victories. No one except the players thought they would beat the Chiefs – not surprising, considering that the Reds went into the game with a horrendous injury toll.
What the victory meant to them was made clear straight after the game. Not realising a television microphone was hovering nearby, Reds second-rower Van Humphries told his huddled teammates how they now had to focus on the next game against the Western Force in Brisbane next Sunday.
Suddenly across the international airwaves, Humphries was heard yelling: ”Come next f—ing Sunday, we’ll roll these c—, OK?”
A pregnant pause, until the ever-cool caller Tony Johnson handled it perfectly by remarking that he didn’t know whether Humphries learnt to talk like that when playing for North Harbour in New Zealand.
MONDAY MAUL
Part 2
Twenty-four hours later and the Sharks opted against turning the air blue, but were certainly agitated about losing to the Waratahs. They had cause to be snarly. They thought that Kurtley Beale’s forearm cross-court smash should have led to them being awarded a penalty try.
Sharks coach John Plumtree and captain John Smit soon made it known at the press conference that they had been dudded. Plumtree didn’t hold back. Yes, they should have been awarded a penalty try, which probably would have won them the game, and Waratahs skipper Phil Waugh had ”got away with murder” at the breakdown throughout the match.
Reporters were already in a state of bewilderment because, a few minutes earlier, Waugh had praised the refereeing. This historic moment forced several scribes, long accustomed to Waugh’s stinging criticism of officials, to fall off their chairs.
After being helped back into position, we listened with fascination as Plumtree and Smit were questioned about some other dubious decisions, rumoured rifts within the team and whether the pair actually got on.
Many of the questions came from a local journalist with strong South African links. Plumtree had clearly heard enough, replying to one query: ”I don’t know what you’re looking for tonight. But you’re asking all the weird questions, aren’t you.”
Another pause. It must have been the humidity, because out on the Sydney Football Stadium terraces, the mood was just as edgy.
Monday Maul was perched in one of the corners. Before the match spectators complained that they couldn’t get into the ground, and later they whinged that, after getting in, there wasn’t a lot worth watching.
By the 65th minute and the 2649th midfield kick, the booing began. The reason more hadn’t already headed for the exits was that the crowd had been granted permission to run around on the SFS after full-time.
55 – Coach, I thought Kanko was off side, now reading he as not off side at all. So really don’t know.
Anyhow it is all over. No use going on about it. The ref that reffed us at the Tank and kiwi ref also got many things wrong. That was his first S14 game, he was a novice and to ref us at home against a kiwi side just is not on. This reffing system has to change.
Brings back memories of when I was young. Think that is all we had home side refs to ref tests. We had ours here and kiwis had theirs there. I don’t think the reffing those days was fair. So said last year this would be a disaster. I never agreed to it at all. It seems as if it might be changed for next year. I do hope so. Neutral refs is the only way to go. Get the NH refs in so it is really neutral…LOL.
