The Chiefs host the Reds at the Waikato Stadium, Hamilton, New Zealand at 08:35 on Friday morning, SA Time. The match will be broadcast on SuperSport 1 on DSTV in SA. One cannot help but feel that the high-stepping Chiefs will be on their way to a 4th successive win this year.
The Chiefs are 3 from 3 in 2010, so nobody takes them lightly. They have the returning Mills Muliaina with Masaga & Sivivatu as their back 3, Donald and Leonard as their halfback pairing and a hard forwards pack. As seen a couple of weeks ago they have the try-scoring ability, when they put 9 tries past the Lions, but they will certainly also be aware that they have leaked too many tries thus far.
To me this match is the battle between proven stars (Chiefs) and a largely unknown bunch of rogues with potential (Reds). Form and history dictates that quality over potential is mostly a safe bet… but we said this about the Saders game too…
The Reds have certainly been one of the improved sides this year, having dispatched the Crusaders with relative ease, but the other 2 results have gone against them.
They struggled against a Blues team who themselves are in struggle-mode. In Will Genia and Quade Cooper they have a very capable halfback pairing, which is partly the cause of the Reds surge of form, that and of course their astute coach, Ewen McKenzie.
I predict that the Chiefs will easily dispatch with the Reds, scoring their bonus point for tries… and more…. Chiefs by 20 PLUS.
