@ 268 I think the Sharks lost the game because they were out muscled in the scrums. Getting ball going backwards is always going to put you under pressure at the breakdowns, it also going to lead to bad passes and knocks, which was also plentiful today. Sigh…….I hate it when we loose to any Aus team.

I saw a lot of similarities in the way the Lions played yesterday compared to the Boks when Snor started coaching them. Maybe it was Dicks’ game plan and we have been criticizing Snor unfairly.

I may sound a critic here ansd I hope you guys take this on board in the right manner. This coming from a visitor from abroad.

There was an open invitation to come here and chat rugby…I did but all I read is afrikaans for the most recent article…sharks game.
Sure I must mind my manners as this is a saffa site…I agree but just some input.

If you want some banter or rugby chat keep your blog open to all walks of life.

Some will log in look at the latest article cant read then go elsewhere…if that is where you want to be then it is no problem at all.

    i hear ya walla ,

  • 292

    Griqua 4 and Puma 14

Hey not so fast gents…those are the Brumbies you are ttalking about.

  • 293

Freakin Heck…RSA teams have been giving my team nightmares.

Stormers first, then Lions now sharks. I need an easy win from the Brumbies next…otherwise it may be PROZAC next!

290@ Walla-bong-bong – I hear what you say, problem is, can one really expect from people to blog in English only on a blog and in a country where the rugby-following public has a very large Afrikaans following.

Even for me who is largely quite bilingual and English is not so difficult, the temptation to print in Afrikaans when spoken to in Afrikaans, is strong.

You will see however, when there are overseas guests present and talking on R-T, we mostly oblige to continue in English. Our Articles are also mostly in English.

You, of all people, should be aware of the almost “Resistive Urge” to use Afrikaans in an environment where our Mother tongue is trodden on daily in our Country.

…. but I take your point… and will attempt to make more of an effort to speak English when I see okes like you around…..

Fortunately most English speaking South Africans understand Afrikaans… so the audience we primarily cater for understands and appreciates Afrikaans.

In addition, there is a large contingent of Saffa Ex-Pats who read and blog here and I’ve picked up from them that writing / speaking Afrikaans here is part of the attraction, due to them pining to an extent for South Africa and it’s people…..

293 – Hi Walla, Congrats to your team. Sorry never got to see the game, had to go to the airport. Now pleased I missed it. Would have given me a heart attack again to watch such a close game. Will watch the game later.

From what I read here seems like Sharks had plenty handling errors again.

Well we pick up a bonus point… for what it is worth 😀

Think we need to play some of the youngsters now. Really nothing to lose.

All the best to your team Walla.

Listen I hear you on your post 290. Maybe there should be more talk in English especially for the overseas visitors that come on here. I too don’t understand everything in Afrikaans but do understand quite a lot when I read it but not to write it. I am baie sleg….hehehe.

    Enjoy your win Walla.

294 – GBS, I understand where Walla is coming from boet. If we get any English speakers that log on here (new ones) they cant understand anything if it is in Afrikaans they will blog somewhere else. I also understand most here are Afrikaans so I never mind if anyone speaks in their own language. I sometimes miss some of it as my afrikaans is not 100% but I mostly understand but not to write it.

If Carol, Walla, Irish also remember Old Griquas is a Aussie they all speak English. Then everyone should by respect to our overseas blogger try and speak more English.

Sorry this is your blog so really don’t want to interfere but Walla makes a good point there.

  • 297

    GBS

I completely understand and as when I wrote that I had that in mind.
You do have a difficult task. Your blog is primarly for the RSA public but I do enjoy coming here as I can banter with old friends.
There may be at times if some visitors stumble on this site they cannot be entertained so move on.
Usually healthy banter comes in the form of nation against nation…different view points and different emotions arisen from different cultures.

You can only do what you are in control of.

I enjoy coming here as I can read some afrikaans..I am no way fluent in afrikaans but I do get the gist in some comments.

  • 298

Forgot. Rugby Princess is a kiwi, she too only speaks English. When our overseas visitors are blogging there then we should speak in a language they understand. Walla is right there GBS.

  • 299

289 – Ash, Good luck to your Stormers. Hope they win and with the bonus too.

  • 300

    Puma

The Sharks have seriously been unfortunate in their last few games.
I reckon though some players should have been let go little earlier than this season. There is no point having Goode…Kockett…hmm I dont think you guys need a RAGING EGO parading around the park.

I did not see the game but kept close to the scoreline…I thought we had lost this one.

I hope for you your team gets a few wins before the season ends…get above the Bulls 😆
