Cheers Pienkste
Actually it looks like it could rain up here today. Not sure if that will be good for the game tonight though.
239 – Cheers Blouste, Good luck to the Bulls.
GO BULLSSSSSSS.
Yip, the weather is overcast…. luckily I’m sitting in a Box tonight, should the weather play foul.
Actually after Canes have played the Bulls at altitude tonight. Hope they are softened up for the Sharks next week π
234 – GBS, that what makes the Bulls 20 points so impressive. They still have a game in hand.
You see Brumbies are on 17 now, if Sharks and Lions gave them the bonus points they would be on 19!! There is the difference by not allowing the other team to get the bonus. So Lions and Sharks done there bit there π Sharks also never allowed Tahs the bonus either.
240: sien Butch is dalk oppad terug. π
244 – GBS, Hoping for it to stay dry. Wont see a good game if it rains. Also hard to get the bonus in wet conditions.
247 – BdB, It is not 100% yet that Butch is coming. If he is coming then he had better come now when we need him, not at the end of the S14.
Though think he has a shoulder injury and will still be out for another 3 weeks with it. Maybe 4. Not too sure.
IRB Adelaide 7’s Games Thread is up.
GBS, I take it that box of your’s is Hurricane proof?
I learn so much from you Bulls ouens e.g. I wasn’t aware that the altitude only works when the sun comes out.
You ouens remain a minefield of information. π
251@ Vuurtjie – Blame Puma…. hehehehe
Nooit GBS! It was bdb in #235 that made that claim – Puma was doing his softly-softly best to save the situation.
253@ Kitaartjie – He made no such claim, here’s what he said:

229: Puma, dit is βn aand wedstryd, so altitude nie so groot faktor nie. So, hierdie gaan βn grote wees. Hoop net die verdediging is beter.
Dippenaar en Kirchner is vir my baie stil, hoop hul het groot wedstryde vir βn slag, so ook FDP.
In other words, to make it clear to you WIEPIE okes, he said the Altitude Factor is NOT SUCH A BIG FACTOR at night, not that it does not exist. The Altitude Factor MUST have a bigger influence in a hotter environment (read day time).
He’s not saying that the lungs don’t burn, just saying that heat of the day amplifies the effect, and I agree with him.
In fact, I’m also against giving the NZ and Ozzie teams the latitude of evening games, fark them.
Hehe, GBS!!
Look here in the Cape we are able to distinguish heat from altitude, but clearly there is no need to do it up there. Must be a Bull thing…
Just do me one favour – next time the Stormers/WP play at Loftus, just gooi that switch that controls the altitude to the “off” position. You see, we can handle the heat, but its that frigging altitude that causes all the problems.
I’m told that the switch is situated somewhere in one of those boxes up their in the main stand. Apparently you can’t miss it ’cause it marked “Altitood”
Please broer, check it out for us tonight, ok? π
252 – GBS, ..hehehehe Blame Puma niks. Gaan weer en lees my post 232. Ek het gese dat. The only good thing for the Canes being a night game it wont be hot. BUT altitude is altitude. Makes no difference day or night. The lungs going to burn, burn in the last 20min the legs will tire too.
Altitude = less oxygen – lactic acid builds up far quicker too, sun our no sun…hehehe. Makes you tire quick. But yes, it will be a little easier without the sun on their backs. It is the same at the coast no sun it makes it easier. But Loftus, Ellis Park and in Bloem. You have the altitude on yourside always.. π
I ran many night half marathons at altitude. It made only a little difference to my time without the sun.
So gooooooooooooo Bulls run em off their feet, soften em up for us Sharkies next week. π
Hope my afrikaans is right there. π
Puma,
Impressive, your afrikaans seems to be improving old chap…thanks for the quick lesson too, now we all know why the altitude makes life difficult. π
259 – Fires, I put plenty more afrikaans in that post but deleted it….hehehe. Thought it was a wrong.
My afrikaans is baie sleg….hahaha.
259 – Fires, I am not sure about this, it could be a rumour, but heard during the 90’s when Mac was coach at the Sharks he used to give the team a bit of oxygen at half time when they played up here…….hahahaha. Now there is the answer bring the oxygen bottle with when playing the Bulls at Loftus. π
258 – GBS, I said this in my post but deleted it cause thought it was wrong. Correct me if I am wrong.
Tog, tog, tog klein boeta, jy moet jou reading glasses moet draai……hahahahahaha.
#258 Puma
Shot Puma!
You know what strikes me about these posts? Us ouens next to the sea seem to have a better understanding of altitude than the Bulls who live at altitude.
Now, if that doesn’t take your breath away – nothing will, hehe?
And I’m no expert at Afrikaans but that was pretty impressive snuff! π
263@ Oerwoudkat – Hahahahaha
“Bril” Puma, reading glasses are your “Leesbrille”!
265 – GBS, That word I never knew so slipped in the English word there. Now I know π
264@ Kitaartjie – Julle ouens vannie seeeeeeeeee, is kak bang vir 2 goed…. Bulls Altitude en Bulls Attitude!
264 – Fender, I know altitude well. Born and bred in Joburg. Now of course mostly live in Umhlanga.
The latic acid build up is faster when you play any sport at altitude. The quad muscles really tire a lot from that. The lungs burn and burn. That is if you have come up from the coast to play you feel the burn in the lungs far more than the players that have trained at altitude.
264 – Fender, I am definitely not a expert in Afrikaans. I just try it out sometimes hoping I am not making a fool of myself. As my afrikaans is terrible…….hahahaha.
267 – GBS, We will bring our oxygen bottle with, to fill the lungs up at halftime π Altitude advantage over for your Bulls…..hahaha.
