Sharks recruit Meyer retires
Durban – Steve Meyer, recruited mere weeks ago to fill the flyhalf hole at the Sharks, has announced his retirement from rugby with immediate effect.
Due to personal reasons, Meyer has requested that the Sharks release him from his contract and will not be available this weekend against the Chiefs.
Sharks CEO Brian van Zyl added, “Whilst this has come at an inopportune time, we respect his decision and have agreed to release him. It is fortunate that we have a number of players who can fill this position until such time as alternative arrangements can be made.”
Just came online in shock to tell all Sharks supporters this as well, read it on news24. WHAT IS GOING ON ??????????????????

Everyone is looking for a reason and there is hardly anyone who doesn’t feel there must be more to it than meets the eye, but the Sharks are adamant — they were as blindsided by Steve Meyer’s decision to retire from rugby as everyone else is.
According to Sharks sources, Meyer pitched up at the office of the Sharks CEO Brian van Zyl on Wednesday with his father in tow, and the pair of them announced that for personal reasons Meyer did not want to continue with his rugby career.
sounds like he failled a drugs test and would rather retire than develop a strange disease.
Might have old Butch make a long awaited return, lets see what my friend can wangle…or else we’ll be stuck with Dollie grip….eish
Hey everyone! Back at last! How do I register for this Sports Pool? How do I get into the Login Block?
Butch James? Ag please no. Sharks should sign Francois Brummer then they’ll have a solid fly-half with a bright future.
Just need to get either Michalak or Hernandez back as mercenaries, then all’s well in the land of the “fin”…
