Francois Hougaard, has withdrawn from his side’s opening Super 14 fixture against the Vodacom Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Friday. He will be replaced by John Mametsa.

  • 4

3 nou hoekom het hy onttrek? besering?

  • 5

Mametsa is ‘n strydos. Hy sal die Bulle nie in die skande steek nie. Bly vir hom.

    Wat is fout met Hougaard?

  • 6

Hougaard strained a ligament in his knee during the final captains run at Vodacom Park on Thursday. Having injured the knee earlier in the season, he passed a fitness test on Monday, but felt discomfort after the final run.

  • 7

Eish, nog lank voor die game begin, damn. Nou moet mens seker probeer sense praat terwyl mens wag…..

Referee Mark Lawrence has been forced to withdraw from the Super 14 clash between the Lions and Stormers after a freak gym injury.

  • 10

Lawrence, who was due to referee the opener, will now be replaced by Marius Jonker for the match to take place at Coca-Cola Park on Saturday at 17:05.

Jonker will also be on the touch judge for the Vodacom Bulls v Vodacom Cheetahs clash in Bloemfontein Friday night.

Lawrence, who is down to referee the Six Nations clash between England and Ireland in two weeks time, was forced to withdraw on Friday after the injury failed to heal in time.

“I guess I’m getting old,” Lawrence joked about his injury, “I was in the gym on Tuesday doing lunges and on one of those, I was bringing my leg back over the bar, and it hit the bar and I stumbled. I had weights on my shoulders and hurt my groin muscle.

7 – Fires, Yip Brumbies/Force and Bulls/Cheetahs later tonight. The rest tomorrow. Saders/Landers first up tomorrow morning at 8.30am.

Looking forward to seeing how the Brumbies play with Gits back.

  • 12

With Lawrence’s one eyed aproach to the Lions, maybe we’ll have a better chance now.

Howzit Puma, yeah I think Brumbies will be tough this year, probably one of the main contenders for the cup…

The Sharks/Chiefs game the only non-local derby this weekend?

I wonder if the “so much more professional than the Lions” Western Force are going to pay Andre Pretorious his full salary while he sits on his ass and tries to fix the tear to his hammy that happened during a jogging session.

Farkin’ players who move and bad mouth their former employers (Mossie as well) should be treated the same way that child molesters are in prison.

    Friggin’ unprofesional IMO.

  • 22

GBS You must send me a quote – do it! ;-)lekker lag ek nou!

  • 25

    20

Flippit ou, wat’s jou pick vir die Sharks?…LOL

Blyk my die is jou naweek.

  • 26

    24

I can’t see it helping long term. He has a history of breaking down for long periods of time.

I wonder if he made a “full and honest” declaration to the insurance underwriters? With his history I’m surprised they didn’t slap a bunch of exclusions on him.

Did the Force allow him to bring his own sand bucket, or is that why he started using a Tee at the back end of last year? Perths sand may be too fine to hold a Rugby ball?

  • 27

23@ Blou Baard Parra – Ja meestertjie…. maak jou picks…. het jy nie my mail gekry nie?

  • 28

Nee, ek het nie… sal gou gaan…

  • 29

    25
You dont want to know. Must say that i dont think the Chiefs will be poor all of a sudden. They were the finalists last year. Think they will still be good.

And the Sharks had so many disruptions, i cant see you guys focussed for 80 minutes. And when you play NZ teams you must be.
