Welcome to  the third day of the first India-South Africa Test.  A lot rides on the openers today from India’s point of view. In fact Steyn and Morkel v Sehwag and Gambhir has been the big contest within the contest. This contest over four innings could well decide which way the series goes.

6.3 136.3 kph, No doubt this time. The death knell. It landed on a length around the off stump line, cut in and caught Smith out. Smith was very tentative in defense, moved his arms rather awkwardly and got the bat in an angle. The ball moved through the bat and pad gap to clean up the stumps. Clatter! Good ball, poor defensive effort. 6/2
View dismissal AG Prince c †Dhoni b Khan 0 19 10 0 0 0.00
4.3 128.4 kph, Given out caught behind but it went of the arm-guard. Now then… now then .. What a ferocious delivery. Zaheer Khan serves up a well-directed bouncer at the face. A stunned Prince takes out the bottom-hand off the handle and offers the bat as a face-shield. The ball crashes into the arm-guard and pops up to Dhoni. It has been given out. Prince staggers out towards Smith, perhaps asking whether we have UDRS here. No. And off he goes. 5/1

113.2 92.2 kph, Kallis misses the double ton. Again. This one turned from outside off, he shaped to defend but got a thick inside edge on to the pad and it popped up to Vijay at short-leg. Kallis might have dawdled today but he was magnificent yesterday. 346/3

5.1 145.2 kph, ho ho ho what a jaffa right up, of all the deliveries at all the times Morkel bowls this one first ball of the morning! angling in, just back of a length, pitches off, holding its line enough, Gambhir is committed into the stroke but ends up playing inside the line, getting a faint edge 31/1

8.6 139.5 kph, Clatter! Vijay shoulders arms and hears the death knell. It landed outside off stump, hit the seam and cut in. Vijay lifted his bat in the air and allowed it to pass him but a nasty little surprise awaited him. The ball moved in off the seam to take out the off stump. Crash! Thanks for coming Steyen sticks out his tongue as he reaches the rest of his team-mates. Was it an intended outswinger that hit the seam and came in? 14.1 142.2 kph, Got him! Steyn rulez. It came in the air, landed on a length, around the middle and off stump line and curved away. Tendulkar stuttered out to drive, the length drawing him forward, and he was then done in by the away movement. He did push his bat slightly outside the line, trying to cover for the away swing but the ball moved fractionally more and kissed the outer edge. Fabulous delivery. Hi Treehugger,

Thankfully I am sitting in an airconditioned office otherwise I wouldn’t make it, what with all the hotflushing that is carrying on 🙂

  • 212

Snoek@206 – it is a dying language – we all speak English now and our mother tongue is slowly dying, as most youngsters don’t want to learn the language as it is only spoken here. They feel it is a waste of time. 🙁

  • 213

    GBS@204 – LOL

  • 214

Well, even if i could have more than on wife, why would i want to take that option?

    Nope, to much trouble.

  • 215

My point exactly, Why would you want to punish yourself with another husband/wife…….cant think of anything worse

  • 216

Snoek – hub learnt his afrikaans in the army, said he had a little corporal that used to stand on a bucket and go faceto face with the guys and scream at them lol.

  • 217

    Tripples hahahahahahahaha

  • 218

212 that is what is starting to happen over here with Afrikaans, it is very sad

  • 219

Snoek/Trips – my dad always said one wife is more than enough – imagine the credit card account! LOL.

He said he asked my mum for the marriage certificate the other day and she said why on earth do you want it. He said I want to see the expiry date. 😆

  • 220

218@ Tripps – Noooooooooooooooo, over my dead body!

In fact, Afrikaans has been having a revival and a bloom period of note since 1994…

  • 221

    212 – Irish

It is a shame. I see the same thing happening with the SA indians, almost no one can speak hindi anymore. They lose out on a cultural thing that way.

  • 222

OK, seeing as my rather big downloads for 2 computers are just finished, let me go work seriously for a while… could do nothing waiting for them….

  • 223

Stem nie saam nie trips, praat nog lekker afrikaans elke dag.

  • 224

    #219 🙂

  • 225

  • 226

    India 61/2

Please take Tendulkar. He could cause prolems. Very good batsman.

  • 227

dan weer aan die ander kant is die afrikaners besig om al hoe nader aan mekaar te kom en saam te staan so ek hoop net dat dit positief sal bly

  • 228

    Snoekie 😆

  • 229

221 – Snoek, You right, think all the Indian South Africans speak English now.

  • 230

218/223: Ek praat Afrikaans in Afrika !

  • 231

Snoek@221 – it is a shame. Cultures are slowly becoming an international brand – television is so Yankinised that most of the Irish youth are caught in that world.

  • 232

    219 – Irish 😆 The credit card bill would be unthinkable…. 😀

When I worked in Saudi there too some Saudi’s have 4 wifes.

Just for us Westerners is hard to imagine that. Must cost a huge load of cash for sure.

  • 233

    Eish !

  • 234

231 – Irish, When I lived in Holland I noticed even then when the Dutch spoke English it was with a bit of a American accent. So daft as the States is far from Holland. All got to do with tv mate.

  • 235

bye guys gotta go….talk tomorrow again

  • 236

    Bye TripE

  • 237

233 – BdB, It does sound funny boet. Brad Van der Merwe…hehehe.

  • 238

Well we have a distinct accent and many here try to emulate the American accent.

  • 239

    235 – Cheers Tripps

  • 240

238 – Irish, It is so silly even here we have ads on tv and with a American accent. So stupid to hear it in South Africa of all places. Plenty of our ads are like that. Why? Crazy.
