SA Super 14 Rugby-Talk team of the weekend.

1 st nominate the selectors, we need 5 , preferably 1 from each team.

Selectors then nominate the players , only 1 player per position, yes you must make up your mind. If you nominate 2 your picks will be discarded.
Try and make sure you pick a player in his regular playing position. (i know it will be difficult with coaches  DM and JP)
Make picks before Monday 16h30.

RT will do the calculation and publish our team.

Bloggers not part of the selection panel is requested to submit their teams too. We will compare ours with the Team of the week picked by the Guru,s (read selectors).Lets make this a fun filled selection game.

    OKay team of the week:

    15. Joe Peterson
    14. Mapoe
    13. Mossie
    12. Meisiekind
    11. Habana
    10. Steyn
    9. Fourie
    8. Spies
    7. Juan
    6. Schalk
    5. Victor
    4. Pakslae
    3. Werner
    2. Gary B
    1. Guthro

Peterson over Terblanche for reasons already mentioned – 21 points in a game cannot be overlooked.

Schalk over the others, his physicality in the Lions game was huge.

Gary B because Tiaan still struggled at the line-out at times and truth be told, the Bulls scrum was bloody solid with Gary B in the front row against the supposed best scrumming team in Super 14 – and he is the only addition to the front row that got shafted last year.

    # 153 Morne

    Come to think of it…

Schalk vir my ‘n beter 7.

    IMO

  • 157

    Blou,

Tough call between the two and my choice was between them – Schalk just had a bigger impact on the Lions game for me when I considered it in context.

I am not comparing them on turn-over’s won or tackles made etc etc. More of a value to their team perspective.

Which is why I went for Gary B.

    Morne

How do you rate the Stormers chances on the weekend against the Tahs ?

Do you think the Lions will make a step up against the Chiefs ?

Will Giteau be back for the Bulls game ?

  • 160

  • 161

    blouste maandag @ 160
    werk? 😉

  • 162

Stormers have a pretty good chance as the Tahs look very ordinary.

2nd half blues is a concern though but they have identified it and know they have to fix it.

But in most departments the Stormers look okay apart from my pre-season concern where I still think they get bullied in the tight loose and lose the collissions more often than they should.

    Lions…

I would love to say yes they will give the Chiefs a go but unfortunately I see them going down badly if weather conditions are dry.

What people so easily forget about the Chiefs/Sharks game is that rain is a great leveller in rugby. Add to this, the Sharks came up against the S14 finalists of 2009, the Chiefs are no easy-beats.

And lastly, I cannot think that I will see the Sharks play this badly again in 2010 – they were horrid on Saturday.

Gitts will be back as far as I understand against the Bulls – and this will be a real test.

Not so much because of Gitts, but because if any criticism can be made of the Bulls game last weekend it was their defense, and the Brumbies are a very patient team building phase upon phase in breaking down defenses especially creating space out wide.

I am positive about the Bulls, but this weekend will be a good indication if we can expect to see them in the top 4 after round 13.

    Goeie jong talent.

  • 164

I share your sentiments regarding Tjarks and Stormers, actually posted it somewhere earlier.

Also see the Lions going down this weekend.

Defence was defenitly a problem for the Bulls this weekend… I think John will sort that this week no doubt.

But yes, especially under the new interpretations the Brumbies will be a hard shell to crack.

I must add that I’m pretty confidant though…

  • 165

    161 Ashley

Probeer jy dalk enige ongeruimdhede of onwettige bedrywighede wegsteek…

I’m watching you, always keep it real Ash 😆

  • 166

    morné @ 162
dont be like that ….. you just HAD to use POSITIVE and BULLS in one sentence, nê?
do you really think they will be ECSTATIC about that? 😀

  • 167

Morne you see the games almost exactly the way i see them.
Stormers will get a Waratahs team not playing at their full tilt yet, the time to punish them. The Stormers reckon they were tired, well i wondered if the pre season thing was not a overdo. But at Newlands i will go for the Stormers.

Brumbies was always a thorn in the Bulls flesh, it will be tough. The winning streak at Loftus is becoming a burden around our necks. Not that i would like to give it up but the word arrogance might just creep in.

    naaaaah boet
if you really need to know … i’m in the Laser Refill Industry … we’re working with powder, but nothing white … of that i can assure you!! 😉

  • 169

    Glad to hear 😆

  • 170

    Hi Super.
I was not impressed by the Brumbies on Saturday.
Of course they will be a better team with Gits and Rocky.
I see the Bulls beating them easily at Loftus.

  • 171

Nee nee nee, kom nou super POSITIEF !!!

Look , it will be tough against the Brumbies, but like I said against the Cheaters…I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t beat them, except for them setting up 235 phases against us regularly 😆

  • 172

    #170

Agree, we should beat them 👿

  • 173

And beat them well, while we’re at it !!!

  • 174

    tighthead @ 170
hey, tighthead, you missed that ref by miles on saturday!! no springbok colours in bottle throwing for you!!

  • 175

    Blouste

Weereens moenie my verkeerd verstaan nie, hy is goed, blerrie goed…….

  • 176

The way the game will be played now, with less kicking and the ball played more in hand will suit the Bulls, in spite of the nonsense always spoken about the Bulls style of rugby.
It is now important to have a big powerfull pack that can do well in the set pieces and very importantly dominate the collisions, win the rucks with numbers, and drive the ball up over the advantage line with big strong ball carriers.
The team best suited to this are the Bulls.

  • 177

    TH,

Brumbies are a very clever team and tactically arguably the most astute in the competition.

They will not give the Bulls an inch if it cannot be helped.

They are also a very patient team, which means the Bulls will have to be super patient. They got the goods to klap them, they must just get it together on the day.

  • 178

So by the way , nog so 2 ure dan sif ek deur die mails en kyk wie is die Rugby-Talk Super 14 keur komitee.

  • 179

    tighthead @ 176
    i agree 😥

  • 180

    Hey Ash, my old friend!!
The Sharks are paying the price of their excellent marketing, in that you end up with the majority of the crowd being rugby doff, but loving the jol, dops, chicks and everything else except the game on a Saturday!!
However I can tell you that some real rugby men, lost their cool at the low lifes throwing bottles and action will be taken.
