India won the first one day International played at Jaipur by one run.
South Africa needed to score 64 off 31 balls when number 10 batsman Dale Steyn walked to the crease. No one gave South Africa a hope in hell. Dale and Parnell scored a brilliant partnership that took us to 8 runs short of a miraculous win. Parnell fought on gallantly and was run out in his attempt to draw the match. South Africa ended one run short. Pfheeew My poor Heart.

The Test series wasn’t closely fought – both teams won by an innings- in the conventional sense but the matches were intense and dramatic contests. It has, thus, left everybody hoping that the ODIs will be as interesting. Some key players are missing from both India and South Africa but, as Australia proved on their last trip here, the absence of personnel can be overcome.
Team news
Both teams have been hit hard by injuries: South Africa will miss Smith while India don’t have Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khan. India’s injuries present more opportunities to the likes of Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina to cement their places in the side. Kohli had a superb outing in the tri-series in Bangladesh and the pressure is on Raina, whose stock slipped after a poor ICC World Twenty20.
Pitch and conditions
“We’ve prepared a batting wicket. It is a 270 wicket,” curator Taposh Chatterjee said. In the last game played here, India nearly chased Pakistan’s 306 and one can expect another run-fest. However, dew is expected to play a role and the teams batting second might have an advantage.
think if Roelof comes in for Morkel our side will be more balanced 🙂
177 – Winston I will never ever forget Gibbs at the Wanderers where we got the record against Oz that day. He was outstanding. Smith was too.
When they got 434 thought we had not hope at all. Never in my life did I think we would come back and beat them.
Hope Gibbs has a big one today and Loots too.
for sure Puma,me too. Bosman just played the most amazing shot. The man can seriously hit a cricket ball.
There goes Bosman. Damn he made a mistake there. Now gone.
This sucks.. But at least we got off to a good start so less pressure on the middle order.
183 – Winston Bosman can be awesome but sometimes does silly stuff. Like now. Thought he was going to make a big score today.
Please Gibbs do another Wanderers 2006 that would be nice.
185 – Winston for sure. Remember Amla will come in for the next game. Not sure who will be dropped for Amla. As you were asking about Smith earlier. Or maybe Amla there on stand by not sure. As he batted for 23 hours in the test series. That was serious batting and he must be so exhausted.
Yeah, thats why he has never nailed down a place in the side. Gibbs has all the talent, just depends what mood he is in today,he is a bit of an enigma.
All Out Rugby now on…. let’s see what they say about the weekend’s games!
181 – Winston, I would have made a place for R.Van der Merwe today. I think he will come in. Then not so sure about Johan’s bowling today. The smacked him for some. Then he can bat too.
my money says Bosman will be dropped if Amla comes in for the next game.
Okay here comes the 2nd power play. Sometimes it is a good thing and sometimes it does not come off and we lose wickets. So hope we smack em all over the park 😆
Oom Gbs,after how crap the Sharks were I’ll think I’ll stick to watching the cricket 🙂
191 – Winston, Thing is Bosman is a explosive player really good for 20/20 and odi but Amla such a brilliant batsman you can be sure of. So have to see.
We have talent that is for sure. Not enough space for them all.
i’ll take 25 runs for the loss of no wickets 🙂
I’d rather have Amla as he is more consistent,we already have a bit of a loose cannon in Gibbs. I think 2 in our top 3 is a bit much.
And Gibbs has a brain explosion..
193@ Winston – Ou seuna, dis maar moeilik om ‘n Tjarkie te wees jong… support ‘n goeie span man…
Dis lekker om ‘n Bul te wees!
64/2 There goes Gibbs. In trouble now. Don’t see us getting 299.
196 – Winston after watching this, agree. Bring in Amla for the next odi. Both Bosmand and Gibbs are explosive players and both are gone.
gbs,it is,but I’ll support them through thick and think,I’m not a fair weather supporter..
Its like these clowns who were Lions supporters but now because the Bulls are champions they support the Bulls, those are the worst kind of supporters..
198 – GBS, Bulls are brilliant but I still am a Sharkie and forever. A loyal supporter. I never ever jump ship. Even if my team gets the wooden spoon will support them.
Also support all the saffa sides when not playing against the Sharks and especially when our other teams are playing a overseas side. Always get behind our teams. BUT will always be a Shark supporter. 😉
Just joking with you Winston and Puma… you are Tjarkies… and you should stay loyal to your Team.
I like the Bulls as my second favourite team because they have my second most favourite player in the side that goes by the name of Bakkies Botha. My favourite player is wasting his time in France now.
201 – Winston I am the same. A loyal Shark supporter. If they lose or win I support them. Supported them even when we won nothing in the early 80’s. (They were Natal then) So if we have a bad year so be it. I still support my Sharkies.
Will support all our other teams against overseas teams though.
If I dont stay loyal to them then ban me from the site 🙂
205 – Winston, Fransie is my favourite player too. Agree totally wasted in France. Wish we could buy him out of that contract. How I miss him at inside centre. For the Boks sure going to miss him huge. That big boot!! No-one in world rugby has it.
Also like Bakkies but my 2nd team is Lions. Only cause I spend some months up in Joburg.
for sure. The first rugby memory I have is us winning the 1992 Currie Cup against Transvaal 14-13. I saw the game on Espn classic the other day.
Boks will miss Frans Steyn at FB. That is for sure.
