India won the first one day International played at Jaipur by one run.

South Africa needed to score 64 off 31 balls when number 10 batsman Dale Steyn walked to the crease. No one gave South Africa a hope in hell. Dale and Parnell scored a brilliant partnership  that took us to 8 runs short of a miraculous win. Parnell fought on gallantly and was run out in his attempt to draw the match. South Africa ended one run short.  Pfheeew My poor Heart.

Game start at 11:00 SA time

The Test series wasn’t closely fought – both teams won by an innings- in the conventional sense but the matches were intense and dramatic contests. It has, thus, left everybody hoping that the ODIs will be as interesting. Some key players are missing from both India and South Africa but, as Australia proved on their last trip here, the absence of personnel can be overcome.

Team news

Both teams have been hit hard by injuries: South Africa will miss Smith while India don’t have Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khan. India’s injuries present more opportunities to the likes of Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina to cement their places in the side. Kohli had a superb outing in the tri-series in Bangladesh and the pressure is on Raina, whose stock slipped after a poor ICC World Twenty20.

Pitch and conditions

“We’ve prepared a batting wicket. It is a 270 wicket,” curator Taposh Chatterjee said. In the last game played here, India nearly chased Pakistan’s 306 and one can expect another run-fest. However, dew is expected to play a role and the teams batting second might have an advantage.

147 – Super, I will maybe have to eat humble pie….hehehe. Now we looking better. Missed that one too went for a quick swim.

HAHAHA. They would say that. That was a dangerous to do that to Stegmann while trapped underneath. Just one slight movement there and he could have been killed. I would have done the same thing as Victor done. Would have save my mate there without thinking at all. Bulls should counter cite that. Elsom should have got a red never mind a yellow which he never got. Dirty player. Also the Tahs were getting in a fight mood with the Stormers all they wante to do was fight especially their Captain Waugh who should have been sent off.

    Hear this guys opinion

Travis Rutherford: “I agree with Sean Werth. I don’t understand why SA keep picking Albie. He’s a poor man’s Kemp, who himself was a poor man’s Lance Klusener. I also don’t think that Ryan McClaren justifies the fuss made about him. Rather drop Albie and pick another specialist: Amla as a batter or Roelof to bowl.”

all i can say is Hear Hear.

I used to like AM. But like JPD he must prove himself all over again. In domestic cricket.

Kallis takes another wicket. 274/8 45.5 overs.

  • 155

Kallis to Jadeja, OUT, 131.1 kph, South Africa continue to make regular breakthroughs, Jadeja goes in a similar manner to Raina, it was pitched up and outside off, Jadeja looks to drive, gets an outside edge to the keeper
    RA Jadeja c †Boucher b Kallis 22 (20b 1×4 0x6) SR: 110.0

  • 156

Let’s just take the next 2 wickets immediately, then some of the damage that was done is undone… or limited

  • 157

153 – Super, Agree there Albie has gone off the boil for a long time now. The last time he really played well was against Oz in Australia.

I would have found place for R.Van der Merwe. Probably must do that in the next odi on Wed.

    Jacques Kallis(rfm) 6.5 0 29 3 4.24

  • 159

156 – GBS. My fingers are crossed and hoping. This is a huge score already to chase there at night.

  • 160

Good over Steyn , just 2 runs

  • 161

Steyn to Nehra, no run, 139.5 kph, some comical running here, Nehra pushes the ball to mid-on, Nehra and Praveen both set out, Nehra decides he can’t make it so he holds up his hand asking Praveen to go back, Nehra also scampers back, there’s a direct hit at the keeper’s end, there was no appeal for a run-out but replays show Nehra’s bat was only on the line and not across it

  • 162

Langeveldt to Nehra, no run, a good old fashioned tailender’s swing to a short ball, nowhere near the ball, I enjoy watching tailender’s bat

    Dont we all?

  • 163

    Langeveldt to Nehra, SIX

  • 164

Steyn to Nehra, 1 run, horror running from India again, Nehra slogged a full toss towards midwicket, Bosman fields and a direct hit at the non-striker’s end would have ended Nehra’s stay but he misses and Steyn can’t collect it either

  • 165

    Dale Steyn(rf) 10.0 1 46 0 4.60
    No wickets but good bowling

  • 166

    49.2
Langeveldt to Kumar, 1 run, OUT
    P Kumar run out 13 (14b 0x4 0x6) SR: 92.85

  • 167

    India 298 / 9 after 50 overs

SA need 299 at 6 runs per over

  • 168

Langeveldt to Nehra, FOUR, 146.5 kph, whoah, this is unbelievable, a yorker on off, 136kmh, Nehra misses, the ball kisses offstump and races away for four, the bails don’t fall, that is bizarre, Langeveldt can’t believe it

  • 169

We have to chase 299 to win. Going to be tough but we might do it. Need to bat really well.

  • 170

168 – Super, Saw that, was unreal actually thought the bails would come off there just to stay on. Very lucky.

  • 171

Langeveldt reaching 145.5 kph , was he ever this fast?

  • 172

Okay going for another swim. Very hot here in the afternoon. Afternoon sun full into the studay. Aircon on now full blast…..haha.

Catch up when we come into bat.

  • 173

Out till the cricket starts again, chow time

  • 174

meant study. Ag, my typos get worse and worse 🙄

  • 175

Bit of luck going our way. Thought Gibbs was out there.

  • 176

Fark, it’s not easy out there on the batting pitch….

  • 177

Hi all. Am back again. Some serious being played by Gibbs,he has a great record but you just feel that he never lived up to his full potential..

  • 178

if Gibbs, Amla and Bosman all score runs in this series who do you drop when Smith comes back from injury?

  • 179

Another 4 from Loots. Gibbs too batting well at the moment.

So far so good. 47/0 – 17 off the last over and 9 off of this one. Go boys doing really well.

  • 180

178 – Think Morkel has to be dropped but he bowls too. So not sure at this stage.
