India won the first one day International played at Jaipur by one run.
South Africa needed to score 64 off 31 balls when number 10 batsman Dale Steyn walked to the crease. No one gave South Africa a hope in hell. Dale and Parnell scored a brilliant partnership that took us to 8 runs short of a miraculous win. Parnell fought on gallantly and was run out in his attempt to draw the match. South Africa ended one run short. Pfheeew My poor Heart.

The Test series wasn’t closely fought – both teams won by an innings- in the conventional sense but the matches were intense and dramatic contests. It has, thus, left everybody hoping that the ODIs will be as interesting. Some key players are missing from both India and South Africa but, as Australia proved on their last trip here, the absence of personnel can be overcome.
Team news
Both teams have been hit hard by injuries: South Africa will miss Smith while India don’t have Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khan. India’s injuries present more opportunities to the likes of Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina to cement their places in the side. Kohli had a superb outing in the tri-series in Bangladesh and the pressure is on Raina, whose stock slipped after a poor ICC World Twenty20.
Pitch and conditions
“We’ve prepared a batting wicket. It is a 270 wicket,” curator Taposh Chatterjee said. In the last game played here, India nearly chased Pakistan’s 306 and one can expect another run-fest. However, dew is expected to play a role and the teams batting second might have an advantage.
101 – Winston if they keep going like this they will get far more than 270. Going to be tough to chase down a huge score there. Need now to take wickets. No pressure on them at all at the moment.
119 – GBS, Aussies damn them, hope it backfires.
Wonder why Shrek Waugh is not cited for hitting GifAplontjie with the elbow in the face…..
India 202/4 (35.2 ov)
India RR 5.71
Last 5 ovs 32/0 RR 6.40
Surely we will have to get 300+ if we dont put the brakes on them now.
Gibb you beauty. Takes a brilliant catch. 5 down now. Maybe we can slow em down now…heeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaa. Hoping.
GBS het jy al die Stormers game gekyk?
Daai ouens keer bleddie goed.
Maar hulle speel nie die volle 80 minute nie. Onthou jy die Bulle het ook so gemaak vroeer.
Geen punte in die 2de helfte teen Leeus en weer gister opgehou voor die tyd.
36.2
Morkel to Kohli, OUT
V Kohli c Gibbs b Morkel 31 (46b 1×4 0x6) SR: 67.39
123 – GBS, Actually Waugh was a disgrace to his team. Especially being captain. He should have been sent off.
127 – Super, I is looking better now. Need to take another quick wicket. That will put the brakes on them.
Morkel to Kohli, OUT, 135.2 kph, fantastic catch from Gibbs to break the partnership, it was a fuller delivery than the previous one, Kohli chipped it to the on-side, Gibbs leaps to his left from short midwicket and plucks a low catch, that was a breath-taking effort!
I = It
126@ SuperBul – Ja ek het gisteraanddie Stormers game gekyk toe ek by die huis gekom het… het toe noggie die uitslag geweet nie, so dit was lekker.
Ou Habana is op vorm nê… flokken goed…
Ou Meerkat Januarie het my ook impress, so ook Joe Petersen & GifAplontjie & Langbek
130 – Super, Brilliant catch from Gibbs.
132 – GBS, For sure. Habs was superb, Joe and Aplon were outstanding. You would never think they were so small. Such great players both of them. Bekker was superb too.
Stormers are looking really good this year. All the best to them. We need two saffa sides in the semi. Very good for Bok rugby too.
Okay back to tv to see what is happening.
211/5 after 38 overs. They still going to get a HUGE score if we don’t take another wicket or two soon.
132
Parnell and Morkell is now properly being klapped, the way that Waugh should have been.
Parnell to Pathan, OUT, 137.5 kph, this time Yusuf doesn’t get hold of it, it was a low full toss outside off, chipped towards extra cover where an overheard catch is taken, timely strike for South Africa
YK Pathan c Kallis b Parnell 18 (13b 2×4 1×6) SR: 138.46
109 – GBS, somehow think Chiefs will fall away. My semi four, well it looks this way so far. Is Bulls, Canes, Brumbies (Brumbies going to get far better as the tourney goes on) Stormers if they pick up some Bonus points. Then watch the Saders start to pull back the points once McCaw gets back this week.
139 – Super, Missed that one. Damn.
Going to check quick what is happening.
241/6 after 40.3 overs.
We going to struggle. They will land up with more than 300. Need to take wickets now. All of them. To stop the runs. Nothing else will help.
End of over 41 (11 runs) India 245/6 (RR: 5.97)
143 – Super, I feel it will be too much for us to chase in the night there. I know it gets humid and stick there at night for bowling but the score going to be too much for us to chase down.
Looks like we’re going to have to get about 320 to win this game….
145 – GBS, Think it will be far too much to chase down. Not sure how good the lights are there either. Some of the grounds in India the lights are not that good. Now thinking that Kallis chose to field first the lights should be good there. He must know.
Just the score will be too much for us. Hope not.
Puma where is you faith bro.
See the wise guys reckon Elmson is luck that Bakkies was not there.
Last 5 ovs 48/1 RR 9.60
See the batting gets easier.
Kallis to Raina, OUT, full outside off, Raina wafts at it, gets a thick outside edge, easy catch for Boucher, and India’s chances of reaching 300 takes a hit
SK Raina c †Boucher b Kallis 58 (63b 6×4 1×6) SR: 92.06
Good over Kallis only 3 runs and a wicket
