Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske was smiling from ear to ear with the news that playmaker Meyer Bosman was declared fit for action on Tuesday.

Drotske is particularly pleased that Bosman is back from injury because he believes the midfielder is the missing piece of his backline puzzle for the upcoming competition.

The Cheetahs came through their two practice sessions against the Griffons and their ‘B’ side unscathed on Friday, but while some questions were answered for Drotske, others still abound.

“I’m happy at what I saw,” Drotske said.

“Our defence has been superb. We didn’t let one try through in our practice games, so that is working well. But on attack we need to be sharper. We are not finishing off the chances we have created with the sharpness that I want for the Super 14.”

Drotske specifically mentioned Bosman as a key in this area, and will hope his return will spur the side onto greater heights.

“We were certainly missing a guy like Meyer on attack. His distribution makes the difference on attack and it’s wonderful that he has been declared 100 percent fit now and has resumed training today,” Drotske added.

While Springbok fetcher Heinrich Brussow picked up an ankle niggle in the pre-season fixture, Drotske is confident that he will be fit for the start of the competition, especially as the Cheetahs face the defending champions, the Bulls in Bloemfontein on February 12.

Meanwhile, flyhalf Louis Strydom was declared “100 percent fit” on Tuesday while Naas Olivier was running again with the team, with Drotske hopeful that he will also be fit for the clash with the Bulls.
