Hi everyone. I thought I’d share a bit of news about the Aus v Paki game, which heads to day two later this morning. Sydney has been soaked in rain since Christmas. Yesterday’s game was delayed from a 10.30 am start until 2 pm. The pitch was a shocker: never seen a pitch as green. Commentators were saying the win of the toss would surely see the winner bowling. At one time, Geoff Lawson (radio commentator) stuck his uninvited head in front of the TV camera and insisted this is a bowling day! Ponting won the toss and elected to BAT. What a shocker of a decision; today’s press calling for his head: worst captain’s decision in history, etc. Ponting was doomed if he did and doomed if he didn’t BAT. Bottomline is Aus all out for a meagre 120, with Pakis 0 for 14. Weather is still threatening today. I’m 2 hours north of the Sydney Cricket Ground and it has been raining here all night; thundery showers all around. This entire match looks to me like it will stop/start all the way through. Pakistan bowled exceptionally well yesterday and deserve their success. Their young side has endeared itself somewhat to the sporting public; I like their attitude and their good sportmanship. Good luck Pakistan. You can never rule out any Australian side froma contest, so we’ll see how Ponting goes about rebuilding after a disastrous first innings. Time in Syd is now 8.41 am, with a 10.30 am start scheduled and black clouds are hovering over the ground. Most of the state is in flood at present, after 10 years of drought. Tootsiens (spelling??)
