137.4 review Harris gets it right this time! Drags his length back, Broad lunges forward again and it raps off the glove and it’s given out. Broad reviews, hoping his glove was off the bat. It’s not, he’s gone and the England a teetering on the brink here 286/8 |

138.1 to Bell, Inspired move! Bell has gone! Oh dear, that is tragedy for Bell. It was outside off he could have left it alone, but had a fiddle at it and it goes through to Smith. 290/9 |

47.2 to Pietersen, got him! Huge wicket and an inspired bowling change from Smith. Full and Pietersen is playing across the ball, strikes him in front and there is no need for a review on that. Steyn gets the main man and England are tottering now! 129/370.3 to Trott, got him! Steyn strikes! Off stump is flying as a full ball nips back between bat and pad and crashes into the top of off. It looked a loose shot but it was fantastic quick bowling. 160/5 |

36.3 to Cook, the pull shot fails Cook, and that’s the breakthrough. Looking to continue his dominant approach, a steepling top-edge, and Boucher steadies himself to claim an easy chance. 101/1 |

39.3 to Strauss, massive wicket! Harris gets Strauss, it pitched outside off again, Strauss tried to work it into the leg side but only succeeded in inside-edging into his pad and it looped up gently to Amla who grabbed it eagerly. That could be the decisive moment. 107/261.6 to Anderson, the leg-slip is instantly into the action! An aggressive sweep from Anderson, as Harris serves up a full-toss. The ball bounces down onto his toe, flicks round the corner, and Ashwell Prince snaffles a blinder, diving one-handed to his right! 153/4137.4 to Broad, review Harris gets it right this time! Drags his length back, Broad lunges forward again and it raps off the glove and it’s given out. Broad reviews, hoping his glove was off the bat. 127.3 to Collingwood, well, what have we here! Maybe there is life! Duminy ends Collingwood’s epic block with one that is pushed across him, catches the outside edge, and goes through to Kallis at slip. Suddenly this last hour will seem like a day for England! 272/6129.6 to Prior, Duminy strikes again! This match is alive! Prior tries to defend, it comes slightly off an inside edge and De Villier’s snaffles a low chance. High drama here! 278/7 |

Not sure Super but think its a good idea. Steyn looks like a natural striker of the ball.. Its good to see that he’s taking the extra responsibility..
Couple of balls to go before the new ball is due…
266 / 6 after 80 overs… new ball now due
New ball taken. This should be interesting. Anderson to start with it.
New ball taken…. and it already looks a different batting wicket…. won’t be easy now
Well done Kallis on his 100.
Also well done to Bouch on his 50. Pity he went out when he did.
Oeeeeeeeeee dropped chance….
These 2 batsmen must try and see out the day and at least the first 10 overs of the new ball
I am just scared we score 350 again and they go on and score 500 and put us in trouble..
Kallis dropped, take your 2nd life serious and make that elusive 200
I dont want to put the mockers on Steyn but who coached him, maybe JP and Prince must join that school.
83.2
Onions to Steyn, no run, another bouncer, Steyn sways out the way in dramatic fashion, and predictably enough, the umpires decide to offer the light to the batsmen, who eagerly accept. I wonder how much the light deteriorated in the last two balls?
Great comeback
Jacques Kallis has anchored this innings, and South Africa have managed to fight their way to a decent total. It could have been a better day for both teams, but given the early conditions when a few wickets could have fallen, South Africa will end the day happier of the two sides.
Watch out for Steyn this little bat will do wonders for him, he is going to bowl up a storm. Well i hope so.
Great partnership of 63 with Kallis.
These situations suit Kallis to the tee, because he can just bat at his own pace and he can dominate proceedings..
279/6
Well better than I thought. Steyn batting well too. Hope he can stay with Kallis tomorrow morning. We need about 450. Don’t think we will make that but need to make as much as we can. Looks really good for batting there now. England will make a big score I think.
Dont know what Steyn had in his drinks but i hope they have more , he was a revelation today.
Cheers all. Would be great if Steyn gets another 72 like he done in Melbourne last year. Kallis is looking very good. Hope he gets another 100. Need someone to stay with him though. Would be nice if Steyn could.
Kallis with his 33rd hundred is now in 5th place one behind Brian Lara and Sunil Gavaskar. One more will take him to 3rd behind Sachin Tendulkar with 43 and Ricky Ponting with 38.
What a group of players.
The only current player near the Big5 is Raul Dravid with 28 hundreds.
Super, Kallis is our best Batsman. So cool he was out there today even while everyone was just getting out. Hope Steyn can stay with him for awhile tomorrow. We still have Morkel and Harris that can bat a bit.
Cheers Super. Catch up tomorrow. Blogged more than I wanted too with this laptop today.
I just saw looking at the list of most 100s scored that Strauss made 18 and KP 16 for England. Do we realize that only Gary Kirsten(21) and Kallis(33) made more for SA.
O Sorry Greame Smith made 18 too
Jis jis
Dink net as Strauss in Pribce se plek kon speel en KP in JP se plek?

Morning Happy New year GBS and everyone
Its good to see some familiar bloggers
I have not been watching the cricket (cricket in USA is a insect)
Why are our boys struggling against the Poms
Are the Poms good or are we just not playing well?
Hello Coach, See you up there. Hope you had a great festive season.
Do you get any of the cricket in the States? Think I asked you last year.
We started off very bad today then Kallis, AB, Boucher and Steyn pulling us through to 279.
Hi there Puma Happy New year
Nope no cricket I sometiems listen to radio 2000 on line.
Yes need to win this one in CT
Coach, Think it is a mistake to open with Prince. He is not a opener and cant play well there. Gets out very quick then pressure on the rest it seems. Prince should come in at 5. Also we lost the toss. Rain in Cape Town this morning so not good for batting. Cloud hung over there for most of the morning then lifted and towards the afternoon more clouds. So makes batting more difficult. Same in Durban we batted first instead of bowling after winning the toss there. Batted in terrible conditions. Finally on day 3 no rain and England got to bat in the better condtions. Why Smith chose to bat first is just a mystery in the Durbs Test. Otherwise who knows it could have been a draw or a win if we had better batting coditions. Credit to England though they grabbed it with both hands and bowled beautiful there.
Coach hallo ,
England is on a up, they also have 2 great bowlers now in the world top 10, Swann at 3 and Anderson somewhere up there. They also have a determined new coach Andy Flower and 3 Ex South African batsman doing great thing for them. It almost feel like our seconds, and you know when your seconds play the main team they normally outdo them self. 😆
Carol will get me for this post.
