get them as tired as possible and give your bowlers as short a time as necessary to really have a go at them

430 – Tripps, Actually AB not batting that slow. Just had a look. Think he is on 32 off 45 balls. Not bad at all actually for test crici. Started very slow though but has picked it up.
Do you also think that the batting pitch has become tame and seems to be a belter to bat on this late in the match?
AB out… Boucher in…. personal observation – if another wicket falls we’re truly into our tail with bowlers batting… and we need them fresh to bowl well, so there might be the need to declare if another SA wicket falls now.
Would like us to get at least 30 runs more though.
434 – GBS, Think that pitch is still good for batting. Though like Ash says, we should just come out for half hour to bat. Get as many runs as we can then declare. Going to need plenty time to bowl them out. Remember we declared late in Centurion and it cost us.
And now South Africa’s lead is 419, which means that history would have to be made if England were to win.
435 – GBS actually that is good. Maybe Bouch can get some quick runs before we declare.

personal opinion …
1. englands bowlers are out on their feet
2. they’re trying to slow the match down by “negative” bowling, so they’re not really hitting the right areas all the time
