I will post just a bit today. Still don’t have my computer its away to be repaired. HOPING. Otherwise will buy a new one next week. Have my daughters laptop. Never like working from a laptop it puts too much pressure on my neck.

4@ Puma – Shout if you need a new one…. I could get you one (PC or Notebook) with “wings”…. careful, there are quite a couple of things one needs to consider in the specifications department to make an informed decision.
All the big wholesalers / direct importers will be open again as from tomorrow again and although I’m officially on holiday till I start on 11 January again I could make an exception for a friend, well I have to go get 2 Notebooks anyway for another friend who is in the process of emigrating to Canada and his 2 daughters need Notebooks for the “American Homeschooling” stuff.
If I was a prospective buyer, I would avoid the Places like Incredible Corruption, Makro, Game, Hi-Fi Corp ect…. and I have my reasons why, believe me….

The first thing I do when I have to fix one is to safeguard all the User DATA FIRST AND FOREMOST!
Morning everyone, Puma dont go to Incredible Connection, I got mine their, took it in with the ip address conflict, they had a look and say there is nothing they can do. Was very angry, am going to find out if there is an ombudsman or something because why should i pay for an expensive computer and something is faulty and it is not my fault.
9@ Puma – Also, another thing, people often has a wrong perception about PC’s… they expect a looooooooooong life from one PC, which is only fair to a certain extent… let me explain.
PC technology moves so fast that the average PC is antiquated after 2 and a half years…. for example, SARS (SA Revenue Services) allows a business to write off a PC due to value depreciation from it’s full value to ZERO over 2 and a half years…. and SARS is very conservative!
So the answer is to buy intelligently so that one could upgrade easily to prolong the life span of a PC beynd a few years.
This makes proper sense, after all one is conditioned to take a vehicle for regular services and for a major servise every so often, why not treat a PC the same??
Anyway…. that is my informed opinion about PC’s…. use it, don’t use it…..

ek moet se daai PC van Dalien loop mooi en is lekker vinnig. Daai SVG host ding het verdwyn, maar was toe nie in my main PC nie maar op die Laptop. Daar reggemaak, wel ek hoop hy is weg vir altyd.

12@ Boomninny – IP conflict is software based, not hardware based…. but you’re right, the “Biggies” like Incredible Corruption do not give a fark…. and their Turn-around time on repairs is absolutely woeful!

GBS oh and when i was at the shop i told them i know someone who is a boffin with computers in Joburg and he says you must sort it out and they just mmm and ahhhd and said there is nothing that they can find and had spoken to to there whohaaaas at head office as well. 25 – Super, Feel the same. We need to step it up a bit. I think though that it looks a bit difficult there at the moment for batting. Maybe once the clouds go will make for better batting. Hoping.
