The Springboks will play all four of the ‘Home Unions’ in November as part of their end-of-year tour, the South African Rugby Union (Saru) announced on Friday following confirmation of the fixture programme by the International Rugby Board (IRB).

South Africa start the tour against Ireland in Dublin on November 6, having accepted an invitation to provide the opposition for the hosts when they officially open the new Aviva Stadium (the redeveloped Lansdowne Road).

The Boks then play Wales, Scotland and England on the following Saturdays.

The tour is planned to end with a fixture against the Barbarians at a venue to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, the venue of South Africa’s season-opening Test against France on June 12 remains undecided.

Saru hope to meet the local organising committee of the Fifa 2010 World Cup to arrive at a final decision on the availability of the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town.

Springbok end-of-year tour fixtures:

November 6, Ireland v South Africa (Aviva Stadium, Dublin)
November 13, Wales v South Africa (Millennium Stadium, Cardiff)
November 20, Scotland v South Africa (Murrayfield, Edinburgh)
November 27, England v South Africa (Twickenham, London)
December 4, Barbarians v South Africa (TBC)

Puma, we have just waved our visitors goodbye so I have not really caught up with the weekends news yet!!
You and the Rugby Talk Sharks fans are going to have to stay positive this season…..You never know at the start just what surprises, thrills and spills are in store.
Our Six Nations starts on Saturday, looking forward to that.

KP did you read the posts on the Better s14 thread?

Here is a good one from a ex player Adam Freier, The Sun-Herald’s new rugby columnist.

Attractive rugby. It is a piece of sporting terminology that has been thrown around very loosely in the past year or so.
The argument on whether modern-day rugby is boring could be stretched further to look at whether professional sport has become more about entertainment than the actual contest. Are we buying a ticket to the circus or a rugby match?
Our game has suffered over the past two years not because it is ”boring”, but its inability to settle from the dust the Experimental Law Variations created. We tried to adopt a free-flowing game with less interruption and less kicking. Has it worked? Probably not.

32 – Carol, I am looking forward to the Six Nations too. Always enjoy watching it.

Sharks just not ready yet I feel. Hope Plum has sorted out his best 15 and bench. Feel like most Shark supporters our centres are not up to it and also we have a problem with FH at the moment. Pity Ruan is injured, then Meyer might be the player for that postion he may just need time with the team. Never saw him play so have no idea.

Maybe this is the season I don’t expect much and they produce. WE have a monster draw too. Play all the really good sides on their home turf. Going to be very tough.

Well Ruan is not injured just getting over his op still.

Okay going to have a early night.

Tomorrow I will know if my application was successful for the WC pool game between Brazil/Portugal in Durban.

Hope I got those tickets. Not football crazy but would enjoy to see just one game at the new stadium and experience the vibe of the world cup.

That is me out. Catch up tomorrow.

    Cheers all.
