View dismissal GC Smith* run out (Cook) 75 256 186 9 0 40.32
58.2 from Onions, Huge mix up between the batsmen! Smith dropped into the off side, and de Villiers, Pietersen-esque, ran down the wicket at him. Smith started to run, hesitated, turned around and Cook ran in to take the bails off, just beating Smith’s dive. 166/4
View dismissal AG Prince c Swann b Anderson 2 8 5 0 0 40.00
2.1 Anderson strikes early! Classic opening wicket, just back of a length, moved a touch away from Prince as he tried to defend off the back foot. It bounced a little more than he expected and ended up fencing, off the shoulder of the bat, to Graeme Swann at third slip. 3/1
View dismissal HM Amla lbw b Broad 2 35 22 0 0 9.09
9.4 massive blow! The fullest delivery of the match so far, and arguably of Broad’s entire tour, as Amla plants his front foot and doesn’t even ponder wasting a review on that one. HawkEye shows that that would have hit middle and leg two-thirds up, and England are on fire 10/2
View dismissal JH Kallis c Collingwood b Swann 75 197 132 7 0 56.81
55.3 got him! That has come out of nowhere, pushed across him, like so many balls before, but this time it gets the outside edge and goes, slightly gently, to Collingwood at slip! Crucial breakthrough 160/3
View dismissal AB de Villiers c †Prior b Broad 50 149 98 6 0 51.02
88.2 Broad does the trick! Full length, where all the magic happens, and swinging away a touch outside off, de Villiers goes for an expansive drive but nicks it through to Prior. England really needed that. 269/7
View dismissal JP Duminy lbw b Onions 4 9 9 0 0 44.44
60.1 gone! This time it’s dead straight, swinging back at Duminy from that good length which Onions pursues, no uncertainty from the umpire. Onions really deserves that, he has bowled well all day 170/5
View dismissal MV Boucher lbw b Swann 39 72 50 5 0 78.00
77.1 well, well, we have a review coming up … and it’s looking good for England … Swann straightened one from round the wicket, Boucher got in a good stride, but the ball clearly struck pad before bat, and HawkEye suggests it would have hit middle two-thirds of the way up. And that’s out! 233/6
View dismissal M Morkel lbw b Swann 23 87 49 2 0 46.93
95.6 well, that you have to say was coming. Morkel was bamboozled for five deliveries, and this one finally pins him in front of off. He calls for the review, but it’s a futile gesture. That struck him on the shin, and that is curtains 285/9
View dismissal PL Harris lbw b Swann 2 15 12 0 0 16.66
91.5 We have a review, very full and Harris is sweeping rather clumsily, he misses and is rapped him on the pads. Given out but Harris calls for a review. He may think he’s hit it but replays don’t suggest that. Pitched in line, and hitting, and given out 280/8
View dismissal DW Steyn c †Prior b Anderson 47 66 58 3 3 81.03

Where is Superbul today?, he normally don’t miss the cricket.

289 Hi Snoek, we have had a great time with both friends and family, I have to go to work for a few hours today 🙁 but should be ok!
    See you are working too!!

  • 303

299 – Snoek, Yip there are a plenty of Sharkies here now. Think about 8 of us.

Yip, I do enjoy my mom. Treasure her actually. My Pa died very young. In 1980. He was only 59. My mom is a strong lady but almost died last year waiting for her pace maker op. Heart rate went down to 26 by the time they done it. She is now chirpy and back to her normal self. Yip we need to enjoy every minute of our parents. You never know what tomorrow bring.

    302 – Carol

Had a weeks leave, worked for three days, and the Christmas break. Working again this week, and then off on another vacation for a week.

Very confusing, but have to work between vacation. Can’t afford to take three weeks off.

  • 305

    303 – Puma

Well send my regards to her from an internet friend.

  • 306

302 – Carol, Why are you working this week? It is still the festive season after all. I understand the Saffas that work this time of year. It is hectic taking holiday to the coast. So very, very busy and crowded. April is a beauty of a month here in Umhlanga the best time if you want hot weather and the humidity still there but not as high as Jan and Feb.

  • 307

301 Superbul had an invitation to stay at a relations ‘lodge’, (is that the general name for a house in the country)? So he wizzed off the other day.

You are right about enjoying your parents company as they get older, also we as a family were particularly blessed because earlier this year we did not think that my sister in law would make 50 either, she had a terrible cancer but it was such a wonderful thing to have her with us all this christmas, it was really special. She has been given the all clear for the time being too. 🙂

  • 308

    305 – Snoek will do.

Morning All, After many years of support, I have to admit that the Ntini Express has slowed to a Steam Engine – all huff, puff and hot air!

Why is it that the majority of South African Sportsman (across all fields) tend to prolong their careers after the wave has already crested and is fast becoming a dumper? Whilst it is the individual’s decision, I guess, I blame the coach and selectors for allowing the player to continue embarrasing himself, based on previous form and expectations.

Ntini should retire from International cricket asap before he becomes another dumper. ‘Unfortunately’, Ntini could possibly have a blinder in the next test and walla, he thinks in this own mind he is ‘needed’ only to embarass himself in the next three tests that follow.

  • 310

Carol, A lodge is normally in a game-park or yes, out in the country or bush areas here. Some great lodges where Super went and I must say the most beautiful place next to Cape Town where Super is at the moment.

  • 311

    Puma

A friend of mine has a penthouse flat in umhlanga. He spends December vacations there with his family, and drives to work once a week to ensure that things run smoothly when he is away.

Have not been there since March though, when we went on our boat trip. Stayed a few days at Balito.

    Peterson gone……… Yipee

  • 312

309 – Dipsy, Morning mate. I have to agree with you about Ntini. He is way, way past his best. Now we really are short of a good bowler there. Should have had De Wet after his very good performance last week or Parnell.

Ag, it drives me crazy why we keep selecting players out of form. Will cost us.

Sad to say that about Ntini though. He has been really great for SA crici but everyone eventually has to retire.

  • 313

Great ball by Harris 🙂 Lets get stuck into the guys now.

  • 314

Puma, sometimes you just have to keep things ticking over, so work it is!!

    Back later……

“Cummon Pietersen, you can do it laddie”!! Keep Batting and think of England….Heheheheh!! 😆

    Have a good day all…….

  • 315

Mpumalanga has some special scenery. My sister stays close to Superbul, and when we visit her we always do the scenic tour.

  • 316

Arghhhhhh Gone did you say Snoek………????????? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

    316 – Carol

Yes Carol he has departed with a LBW descision against him. Bowler – Harris.

  • 321

313 – Winston 😆 I say so too. Let us get stuck in now. 😀

  • 322

  • 323

311 – Snoek, Sounds great that. Penthouse in Umhlanga? Brilliant. Very, very expensive a Penthouse there.

  • 324

Only thing is Harris is battling in this strong breeze. Hope he can cope in the wind. Ntini looks like a heavyweight boxer past his prime.

  • 325

    321 – Puma

We need to take a cluster of wickets. 3 in 10 overs will do 😆

  • 326

    323 – Puma

Very succesful guy. He has a Box at Kings park as well, we enjoy many games there.

  • 327

325 – Snoek, 3 wickets in 10 overs would be great. Just pleased we got both the Saffa Poms out before lunch 😆

Need to take Collingwood. We do that we really are on top this session.

  • 328

Morne Morkel is looking good. Strong body language and looks like he wants to be there.

  • 329

    324 – Winston,

Yip a strong breeze blowing there. Agree with Ntini just not where he used to be. Sad to see that actually. Time for Ntini to retire I think. Probably will still get selected for Newlands if we win this one, but if we lose or draw, think they need to think hard about selecting Ntini for that test.

  • 330

    324 – Winston

I wonder if the coach is hoping that Ntini retires, rather than him (the coach) dropping Ntini. Ntini is a hero in Cricket for many youngsters, and it would not go down well with many if he is dropped.

Personally i hope he decides to go sooner rather than later. Get Parnell in the test mix i say.
