Oud-Bok John Knox sterf aan kanker
Die voormalige Springbok-rugbyspeler John Knox (55) is Vrydagaand oorlede.
Volgens sy dogter, me. Jessica Knox, is keelkanker net meer as twee maande gelede by haar pa gediagnoseer.
We will always remember you John Knox, and you will be in our hearts every day. We will celebrate your life and not mourn your death.”
– Wolfram Zwecker
Rus in Vrede John, jy het my baie plesier verskaf.
It is with sadness and regret that we have to inform you that the former Northern Transvaal player John Knox has died.
Knox, who passed away at the end of last week, played in 67 matches for the Blue Bulls from 1973 – 1980 and he also represented Natal as well as the SA Oribes.
John spent his last couple of days with his kids, Jason and Jessica and they distributed the following sms to his friends after their father has died.
“On Thursday (5 Nov) at 17.28 a loving father and a faithful friend passed onto a better place.
“We will always remember you John Knox, and you will be in our hearts everyday.
“We will celebrate your life and not mourn your death. Love you always daddy.”
The Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd would like to use this opportunity to send their sympathy to John’s family and friends in this extremely difficult time and we trust that the Lord will comfort you in the months and years to come.
Good player, John, long flowing black mane….
RIP.
He came down from Zim, I recall.
Was a member of the NTvl team that beat the All Blacks in 1976, with Joos le Roux kicking the winning penalty.
John and Tjokkie vd Merwe were the centres, Wilhelm Stapelberg on the wing, Tonie Roux fullback, Thys Lourens captain, Moaner van Heerden……
Awesome team that was!
Hi Pietman
A great centre.
I remember him well when he played in Durban.
Was brilliant for NT before that with Tjokkie Van de Merwe.
Rest in peace John.
Rest in piece John Knox…. part of the reason I love rugby so much stems from your generation… I was a boy in the stands watching you and Tjokkie in midfiled, watching my hero, Thys Lourens.. the greats of Frik & Moaner & Louis Moolman…
You were born for rugby.
To the remaining family… your father was a giant in our eyes, he played for the love of the game, he will be remebered with dearness!
John is well remembered from my days in RSA.
Rest in peace, mate.
Condolences to John’s loving family.
