Aaron Mauger will lead out Leicester Tigers for the historic match against South Africa at Welford Road on Friday evening.

The New Zealander international lines up at fly-half for a fixture arranged to officially open the new Caterpillar Stand.

Academy prospects Andy Forsyth and Manu Tuilagi combine as the centre partnership, and Ben Youngs starts at scrum-half.

The forward pack features the eight who started last Saturday’s Guinness Premiership win over Northampton Saints, including young lock Calum Green who made his first senior start in that game.

New signing Lote Tuqiri is also included in the 22 after the Australia international wing arrived earlier this week and hooker George Chuter is also named among the replacements.

Head coach Richard Cockerill takes the opportunity to rest Anthony Allen and Jeremy Staunton who have started all nine games in league and cup so far this season.

Richard Blaze, Harry Ellis, Toby Flood, Geordan Murphy, Billy Twelvetrees, Sam Vesty and Ben Woods are ruled out by injury.

Friday’s game is a 24,000 sell-out. Live coverage is being shown on Sky Sports 2 and on Supersport 1.

Good point. Lets hope Earl has one of his two ‘good’ games every season.
We better run the ball, because there are no great kickers in that backline.

  • 83

    Howzit Sharky

The thing is that the tigers has a patched up team as well. So i feel positive that the okes can go big tonight.

I hope we win. Actually, when the Boks second best team plays an England club side, there shouldnt even be a discussion about who will win! But with all these good players staying behind in SA…eish
