South Africa innings (50 overs maximum) | R | M | B | 4s | 6s | SR
HM Amla | c Swann b Anderson | 11 | 28 | 22 | 2 | 0 | 50.00
6.6 gone! England have their second and a fuller length pays off as Amla flicks straight to short midwicket…that’s a good fielding position for Amla who didn’t get over the ball and Anderson was clearly delighted with that 24/2
GC Smith* | lbw b Broad | 2 | 7 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 50.00
1.2 well, what an early breakthrough for England as Broad pitches the ball up and finds a hint of movement to trap Smith on the crease as he plays to leg…wasn’t a huge appeal to be honest, and it didn’t look stone dead, but England won’t be bothered about that 6/1
AB de Villiers | lbw b Bresnan | 22 | 51 | 36 | 4 | 0 | 61.11
13.5 England continue to strike. Much fuller and de Villiers was disappointed but the replays show the ball was clipping the top of leg. Big wicket and South Africa are in real trouble 55/4
JP Duminy | c †Prior b Anderson | 6 | 14 | 10 | 1 | 0 | 60.00
10.3 well, that was strange! A slower-ball bouncer catches the back of Duminy’s bat as he tried to guide a pull away, and the ball looped slowly to Prior. England haven’t bowled all that well and the pitch is flat, but it’s 35 for 3. 35/3
AN Petersen | c Wright b Broad | 51 | 126 | 79 | 5 | 0 | 64.55
36.5 Stunner! Petersen advances but Broad sees him coming and goes short. The attempted swipe is mistimed and Luke Wright, back-peddling, timed a one-handed leap perfectly to take a pearler in his right hand. Sums up England’s performance perfectly. 119/10
MV Boucher† | b Anderson | 13 | 31 | 23 | 2 | 0 | 56.52
20.6 what a ripper! That’s a beauty from Anderson, holding its line and beating Boucher’s outside edge to take out the off stump…almost silence around the ground as South Africa slip further 78/5
R McLaren | c Collingwood b Anderson | 0 | 8 | 5 | 0 | 0 | 0.00
22.5 gone! Another for Anderson, that’s four…South Africa in a real hole as McLaren, starved of any scoring opportunities, drives at a hint of width but can only pick out Collingwood at backward point and he wasn’t going to miss that chance 78/6
J Botha | c †Prior b Anderson | 1 | 14 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 12.50
26.2 that’s five! A career-best for Anderson as it rears off a length and takes the outside edge through to Prior…that was almost unplayable and Anderson rightly takes all the plaudits 84/7
WD Parnell | c Strauss b Collingwood | 1 | 17 | 14 | 0 | 0 | 7.14
29.5 what a stunner! Andrew Strauss has pulled off a cracking catch at backward point (normally filled by the man bowling) as he flings himself low to his left to pluck the chance inches off the turf after Parnell tried to drive square. That gives Collingwood his 100th ODI wicket and England can do no wrong today. 92/8
M Morkel | lbw b Collingwood | 7 | 22 | 15 | 1 | 0 | 46.66
33.6 another cutter but beat Morkel’s defensive stroke. It jumped a little off the pitch and a long, long appeal was finally rewarded. Morkel was a long way down but replays suggested again that the umpire was right. 112/9

AJ Strauss* | lbw b Botha | 32 | 71 | 59 | 6 | 0 | 54.23
16.5 five balls is all it took for Botha. He beats Strauss’s attempted cut with one that kept coming in with the arm and cramped him for room. Struck the pad first and it was plumb. 74/1
KP Pietersen | c de Villiers b Botha | 3 | 7 | 6 | 0 | 0 | 50.00
18.4 now he’s gone…what a lame dismissal, chipped gently to midwicket and Botha has his second 80/2

MV Boucher b Anderson 13 (31m 23b 2×4 0x6) SR: 56.52
78/5 after 22 overs. Don’t think we will even make 30 overs there.
Maybe wrong move to have batted first.
Don’t think there is anymore batsman to come in after this. No Van and no Albie either. We are in huge trouble now. England will win this unless these two can stay in and put up some runs.
“The scoring has completely dried up of late and the pressure has told…great move to recall Anderson who has two wickets in his last two overs. Johan Botha, recalled to the side, now faces the music”
79/6 after 23.5 overs. May not even make a 100.
How did we land up playing so poor after such a great performance at Newlands?
Has to be the pitch and batting first or England just bowling superb.
Proteas need to be more consistent. What happened since last year?
Not even worth it to watch. Just rubbish batting.
SA 92 / 8 after 30 overs
SA 112 / 9
Last man now in… this is shocking
@37 GBS
Check mail.
Tjeers brudda, gooi milies!!!!!.
SA all out for 119
Sad weekend for SA on the sports arena.
Somehow that pitch was misread.
Hi Superbul, i stopped watching a long time ago, now tht is a shocking display. 👿
Jeepers I am bored stiff, somebody better come and talk to me othewise i might go into detail how we fighting the awefull tearing apart and killing of the bull abomination. 😡
@2 Puma – the very same thing is said here. Eveyone was expectng BOD to win it, with FdP a close second. A strange decision considering he hasn’t really had a great year.
Well done RP on your team – they proved just how professional they are. Still the team who consistently win! Have to be the most consistent of all teams in world rugby.
Irish Devil & Puma
Hey, you back off Richie pal ! 😡
Yes Irish, Black is Back 😀
“The players are wearing the aids ribbon today to mark World Aids Day which is on December 1st”
read this little useless info on the match commentary of cricinfo.
Maybe they play in sympathy to all the Aids deceased a slow waltz, well the Proteas look like funeral mourners.

RP, we whaz robbed. At least Fourie wont retire now , he must keep going next year they will give it to him. These awards come a year later it seems.
OK, only 10 runs needed, 21.4 overs left, 7 wickets standing..
Badddddddddddddddddddddd loss for SA, very bad!
OK…. shit, it’s finally over!
Oh, goodie… game finishes in time for All out Rugby on TV… hehehe
43 – Irish, Yes mate. I thought it was going to be between FdP and BOD. We all thought that FdP would win it and if he never BOD would get it. Never ever did I think McCaw would have won ‘Player of the Year’ this year. He was not at his best during the Tri-Nations and was injure part of the year too. So was very, very surprised to see him win it.
I knew SA would win team of the year because of the Lions series we won and beating ABs 3 times on the trot. That were the reasons I thought we would win it even if we lost to Ireland yesterday.
Ireland have had their best year too mate. You can be proud of your team. They going to be a threat come world cup time too. Your coach doing great work with them and you have a brilliant forward coach in Gert Smal.
Richie should have won it last year though. He deserved it last year and never got it so maybe this year they felt they had to give it to him. Who knows. He is a fantastic player but it should have been FdP or BOD. I really thought it was going to be FdP. Ag, not going to take those awards serious anymore. Not ever. They mean nothing if they don’t go to the proper player that deserves it.
44 – RP. Richie is a great player but really to be honest don’t think he deserved to win the award this year. Last year he deserved it for sure.
Your team were brilliant yesterday. Fantastic to watch them play. Well done to the ABs the best SH team to play in the NH this eoyt. Congrats. RP. Boks were just not up to it.
Puma
We will have to agree to disagree, although as McCaw said – there is little to nothing in terms of calibre between the nominees. He came back from injury, after sitting out several matches, to record a total of 10% more tackles over the entire season than another All Black & brought his team back from a 50% strike rate to 71%.
Yes, it was a sensational game to watch & not just because of the out come – I had French commentary & they get sSOo excited it was hysterical !! They went old school on the anthems & had only the teams singing them … clearly no dodgy rastas available 😉
I grew up watching the ball flying along in the comapny of backs so for me personally it was a thing of beauty to behold those quick lads clearly enjoying themselves 😀
GBS Howsw it hanging? wasnt a good sporting weekend for us and the miserable weather today suits my mood….working from home.
