The Springboks are at last choosing more experienced forwards for their tough tour in the Northern Hemisphere, with a player like CJ who is well experienced and used to the conditions up North, he is also joined by Wian Du Preez and Hooker Adriaan Strauss
With Courtecy of News24
Tighthead prop CJ van der Linde will join the Springbok squad in France on Wednesday as a replacement for Jannie du Plessis, who has withdrawn from the European Tour with a hand injury.
Leinster-based Van der Linde made the last of his 56 Test appearances for South Africa against Australia in a Vodacom Tri-Nations fixture in August 2008.
His most recent appearance for Leinster was in the Irish champions’ 23-6 victory over Cardiff Blues on 31 October, before the break in the European season for the autumn internationals.
Van der Linde made his Test debut as a 22-year-old against Scotland in 2002 and was a member of the World Cup-winning squad of 2007.
“It’s fantastic that we’re able to call on a player with CJ’s experience to join the squad,” said Bok coach Peter de Villiers.
“With such a tight schedule it is also helpful to be able to bring in someone who has been part of the group before, knows the systems and will settle in quickly. CJ is also a specialist tighthead who will provide the type of cover we will need.
“It is unfortunate that we have lost three players so early in the tour but that is part of the game and we have to be able to manage such setbacks,” de Villiers said.
Hooker Chiliboy Ralepelle and prop Gurthrö Steenkamp were also forced home with injuries following the opening match against Leicester on Friday.
Van der Linde will travel to France on Wednesday where the rest of the squad, arriving from Johannesburg and London, will converge in Toulouse. The other two replacements Wian du Preez and Adriaan Strauss will join the squad in Johannesburg on Sunday.

Ja, daai was wel defnitief n hoog tackle.
Maar in die begin was daai Walliese skare so ordentlik as hy skop.
Lyk goed BDB.
@94
@92

97 – Flippen Adi en Chilliboy is ewe lucky as dit by Bok span kom.Word gekies no matter what.
supa @ 99
“Soos jy se, dan DEK hy 9,10, 11, 14 en 15” 😯
sies man!! 😆
Hello mense van RT!
Hoessit almal?
Tjeers.
102 – Piet
Morning Piet, Jeepers that centre for France weight 105kg? We in the poo boet if they select Adi. They going to target that channel all night.
Also our FB not so sure about Zane but we have no-one else now that Frans Steyn is not playing there. Huge pity.
99 – Supa
Morning Supa, I think if Ruan was not messed about and left at scrummie and never have been moved to play FH he may still be our number 2 scrumme. He has lost pace there now and he is no FH. Just like Frans Steyn was messed about. Eventually finding the right positon for him at FB which all of us knew was where he should have been playing. Now if PdV selected Fransie last year there he just may never have left this country. Instead he was on the bench to cover ever position 10, 12 and 15. Now we have lost him. We will lose Ruan too. He is a huge talent but is losing it because of shifting about too much in different positions.
I know I am a Sharkie but I really enjoy watching Kockott play at 9. He is in-your-face kinda player the way a scrummie should be. Never gets selected either so we will lose him too. Also rate Vermaak but none of those players come near FdP we just got to hope like crazy FdP never gets injured.
Play Ruan at FH all the time and maybe he will get that form back and be our back up to FdP. He is just too talented to lose.
For Friday somehow I am not too worried about our scrum anymore. More our centre channel if Adi plays and probably FB.
Afternoon to anyone out there. Where is that Castro chappie from that played for the English club that beat us on Friday evening.
Hi There
#105 He plays for Italy……..
Well since there is no one here and am not interupting anything, i will tell any one that is interested about my divine little vervet monkeys and what they did this weekend that totally blew my mind.
The temperture was in the mid thirties this weekend so very hot as you can imagine and filled up the horses drinking containers and the other animals water containers, next thing the monkeys started jumping in and out the old bath filled with water so my hub dragged an old fiberglass pond into the garden and filled it up.
I now know that they love to do doggy paddle and some of them jump in go under the water and surface on the other side and they do this repeatedly.
They did this the whole weekend and this morning.
Hope any animal lovers out there enjoyed hearing about this. 🙂
Oh hiho Trips thanks for that 🙂 didnt know anyone was online, actually thought he might be french and couldnt understand why he wasnt in their team.
That is absolutely awesome!!!! You are privilaged to be able to interact with animals, us stadsjapies are jealous!!!
I have only just come on again…..site is rather quiet, and times when I hav a little time to chat all others seem to be ‘working’ hehehe
Thankyou Tripples, it was wonderfull, couldnt believe them going under the water like that, might enter one of them to swim for SA in the Olympics lol
We have a lot of grey loeries in Pretoria, and we feed all the wild birds and these loeries have started calling us when they are there for food and two of the 6 already eat out of our hands….it is amazing, then here at work we have meerkat, 4 grownups and 6 babies, they have a burrow and everything….we also watch them from a distance, they are so cute
I was going to email dstv telling them is something wrong and it s not working and then it came on, so thought computer is out let me check RT.
I have to go now TH, hope you have an awesome day, talk tomorrow again
That is truely amazeing we have a lot of them and they are very shy. The hub puts out half a bucket of seed for the birds everyday and pawpaws in all the bushes and shrubs and then sits in the garden every afternoon drinking his beer reading the paper and watching the birds.
Ok hub says ours arnt loeries but mousebirds. 🙂
You to Tripples byeeeeee

Great story about the monkeys and the water. Come to think of it, I thought our pack did a bit of doggy paddling themselves in the Leicester rain on Friday night. 😉
#118
On reflection, maybe less doggy and more dodgy paddling then….
