Barry the Bull?

De Wet Barry could feature for the Bulls in next year’s Super 14.

The former Springbok and Western Province centre returned to South Africa last season after his stint in Europe with English club Harlequins and now plays for Eastern Province in the Currie Cup First Division. He also played in the Super Kings match against the British Lions earlier this year.

It is reported that Barry will be available for the Bulls during the Super 14, but will return to EP after their campaign.

The deal has not been confirmed yet, but team manager Wynie Strydom believes the Pretoria franchise would welcome Barry.

‘De Wet is a great player,’. He will be a great asset for us and I definitely would like to see him in a Bulls’ shirt next year.’

    Bulls are at their thinnest on quality backup centres… so this would be welcome… hell maybe De Wet Barry slots in like he was always meant to play for the Bulls…… that would put a few noses completely out of joint… hehehe

    Personally I would like to see him play ahead of Jaco Pretorius at No 13 or on the bench if the Bulls are clever enough to play Jacques-Louis Potgieter at No 12 with Wynand moving out to No 13.

    Hmmm I’m not so sure this is good for the Bulls….looots of experience….maybe too much. Let him play in the E Cape, he can do more there with mentoring too.

    Nee wat dis goed. Solank hulle net eerste na Watermeyer en Dippenaar ook kyk. Twee beserings onder ons senters en ons is in die moeilikheid, dan gaan niemand meer lag nie.

    Ag nooit man. Nie de Wet Barry nie. Kon nooit verstaan hoekom daardie ape van die Kaap hom so gerate het nie, en Jake White hom in die groen en goud gehou het nadat almal kon sien die ou kon net intercept en stilstaande ouens duik. As die Bulle hom sign is die BBRU gerook, dit is net een te veel.
