Top honors go to Fourie du Preez for the second time in his career, joining a small  elite group led by Naas Botha(4), who won this award more than once.

Du Preez – who won the award for the first time in 2006 – claimed the Super 14 and Currie Cup titles with his province as well as helping the Springboks to the No 1 world ranking in conjunction with the Tri-Nations title and victory in the 2009 Lions Series.

“It’s a tribute to the sustained excellence of Fourie’s play that he was chosen by the media for this prestigious award. There are very few players in world rugby who can claim to be as influential as he is.”

Morne is MY ‘Jan’ of choice in these awards!!

  • 2

    Hi Carol,

Awards start proper at 9pm our time.

Think it will be FdP but Morne could snatch it from him. Both produced some great rugby this year.

  • 3

Fourie du Preez is my pick for the top honor.

  • 4

Super Rugby on until 9pm. So will blog until then.

3 – Super FdP is my pick too. Then Morne got that kick over in the 2nd test right in the last few seconds. Then that kick against WP to get Bulls to the final. Phew!! He could snatch it from FdP, but I don’t think he will but you never know.

  • 5

Fourie, Morne and Heinrich would be worthy winners, and this is the order i would pick them.

  • 6

Players player ofthe year would be ……………… Morne Steyn.

  • 7

Young player of the year ………………….. Brussow.

  • 8

Not allowed to share the award so the choice will be made, imagine RT might get a vote there soon.

  • 9

    Helloooooooooo

I was just about to put a similar Thread up… well done SuperBul… we’re in good hands with you at the helm here tonight on this thread.

  • 10

Team of the year ……………………… Boks and Bulls, share.

  • 11

    6 Snoek

Morne could snatch it from FdP. Without his kicking Boks may have lost some games. So maybe Morne gets it.

  • 12

    my try of the year-
Jaque Fourie – Second Test in the Lions Series in Pretoria on June 27

  • 13

Okay if they may not share, i would pick the boks as team of the year. How many teams have beaten the all blacks 3 times in a row in a year?

  • 14

    Awards only start at 9pm.

    9 – GBS you are slooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww…hehehe.

Waiting for the awards to start at 9pm.

Between Morne and FdP to win.

    13 – Snoek

Without a doubt Boks are the team of the year. Lions Series win. Beat All Blacks home and way 3 in a row and beat the Aussies twice.

Bulls will be pushing them but it has to be the Boks.

  • 16

I will go with Superbul on that try by J Fourie. That was a very decisive try in the series, and not many could score that try.

  • 17

  • 19

    12 – super

My try of the year. F. Juries against the Bulls. Brilliant.

Then you right at the highest level it was JF playing for the Boks against the Lions. That probably won the game for us there plus that kick by Morne. Well if Morne never got the kick over we would have tied.

  • 20

Yes puma, the boks was the best this year, but the bulls has won everything aswell. But tests is harder than provincial games.

  • 21

Coach of the year will be PdV because of how well the Boks have done this year.

Then if he has dropped Brussow for the Boks tests eoyt. I wont be too happy 😆

  • 22

    20 Snoek

Tests are much harder. Especially beating our greatest rivals All Blacks in every test we played against them this year. AWESOME.

The best year Springboks have had since 1992. Even better than the year we won all our Tri-Nations games home and away under Mallet as we only played 4 then. This year we played 5.

  • 23

Lions test player i would give to John, a sympathy vote, but his captaincy needs to be recognised.

  • 24

    22

    played 6 won 5

Okay all going to get comfortable and watch the awards.

South African rugby is the best. Love it.

  • 25

    23 – Snoek

John is the best captain in the world. Springboks best captain ever in Springbok history.

Now going to watch the awards. Enjoy it Snoek.
