The Xerox Lions head to Durban to face the high-riding Sharks in a must win fixture if they want any chance of making the semi’s.

With an impressive 88-15 victory over the Boland last week-end, the Lions will take some confidence into this game, but will know that this is a very different prospect. The Sharks are fighting with Western Province for top spot in this year’s Currie Cup campaign.

Injuries have forced the Lions to make a couple of changes to their line-up.

Alwyn Hollenbach will be replaced by Earl Rose at the back, while Jannie Boshoff will continue his centre partnership with Doppies la Grange. Michael Killian makes his return to the side in place of Dusty Noble. The loose-trio of Cobus Grobbelaar, Willem Alberts and Derrick Minnie is unchanged and will have their work cut out for them to try and keep the highly rated combination of the Sharks under wraps. Ryan Kankowski ,especially, has a habit of playing his best rugby agains the team from Johannesburg.

Jano Vermaak, who got injured against Griquas is out for the remainder of the season, and Chris Jonck will continue his halfback pairing with Herkie Kruger.

Franco van der Merwe and Nico Luus will form the lock combination with Willem Stoltz demoted to the bench. Other changes see Kevin Buys come in for the injured Gert Muller. Ruan Boshoff makes his return to the bench as back-up for Herkie Kruger.

    @WilladieLeeu – Nee wat Willa, lyk my nie hy is ‘n Rose nie, maar onkruid, vergaan nie…….LOL, maar almal wat hom moet vervang kry vergaan dmv beserings.

    Hoop jy speel ‘n bars, kan maar net hoop, darem is Killian daar, sou Rose weer uit die bus val op 15,

    @Mr-T@WilladieLeeu – As hierdie Leeu span hierdie naweek kliek…….

    @SA Barbarians – In alle eerlikheid, ek dink die Sharks is net ini voorry beter af as die Leeus, met hul Bok voorry, 4-5 kan even wees, 6-8 great duals, maar ek dink, en glo, die Lions is kortkop voor, 9-10, Sharks, 11-14, Dink ek is baie even, veral Doppies en Jannie langs mekaar,15, wel Stefan is Stefan…

    Maar ek mag dalk net saam jou ste, sou hulle kliek, wie weet. . . . .

    @Mr-T – 7

    Ek sal nie my huis daarop wed dat julle die Sharks gaan wen nie, maar ek reken dis baie moontlik as hulle kliek want daar is goeie spelers in daai span. Net jammer oor 10 en 15 IMO.

    En moenie vergeet dat WP die Sharks 2 keer die seisoen ordentlik geklop het nie, en dat die Cheetahs teen die Bulls gewys het dat die Bokke wat terug is, nie so ‘n groot verskil maak as wat graag vertel word nie.
