thebulls.co.za has announced that Jaco van der Westhuyzen is on his way back to Pretoria after signing a contract with the Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd on Tuesday afternoon.
Van der Westhuyzen, 31, signed a three year deal with his beloved Bulls and will join his former teammates early in January 2010.

The former Springbok has been playing for NEC in Japan for the last six years, but he is extremely excited to reunite with his family and friends at Loftus Versfeld and he is determined to make a huge contribution on his return.

“The Bulls will always have a very special place in my heart.

“I am very eager to play for them and everything I do and want to do is centered around the Bulls.

“It was a very easy decision to make and I am very excited to join up with the team.”

Coach Frans Ludeke was visibly excited about Van der Westhuyzen’s signing and said the player’s willingness to return is a huge compliment for the structures that are in place at Loftus.

“Jaco is a senior player and his experience and versatility will add great value to the team.

“He is able to play fullback, flyhalf and wing and we know that he has what it takes to be a huge asset for us on and off the field.”

In other news Lions hooker, Hans van Dyk has been cleared of any foul play. Western Province complained that Hans van Dyk was quilty of biting flanker Francois Louw.

Judicial Officer Advocate Jannie Lubbe viewed all the available video recordings and determined that the evidence did not warrant a citing.

As a result, the JO dismissed the citing.

    Cheers Morne.

puma whats ur thought about northern natal being brought back and giving our fringe players more game time??

i feel it would be brilliant

  • 33

    gn pa tc mate

  • 34

32 – Sharky, I said earlier to Morne that I thought we should be doing just that. Allowing our players to play in a smaller union and still able to select them if we have injuries. It makes for a bigger pool to select from too and they will be game fit.

N.Natal is a good idea mate.

  • 35

it still belongs to natal anyhows as i see it

but atleast one would beable to give the fringe players game time too

  • 36

32 – Sharky, N.Natal will be like keeping it in the family…..LOL.

EP just too far from Natal. I know we had some players there this year but closer to home is better and it will allow for the players (fringe) and some other youngsters to get game time and Sharks being their main union. It sounds good to me for sure. Think all the unions should be doing that just like Morne said. It is long over due. Will get a lot more players playing and we wont lose them to other unions if we do that. Them knowing they may get selected by thier main union.

    Hoe loop dinge hier?

Never rated him.

Spot the Bulls player competition number 1.

Picture the scene: It’s the Bulls’s first bring en braai of the 2010 season.

Bakkies arrives with his 1.5 Texas steak all the way from Wonderboom, Victor has brought along hoenersosaties as long as his left leg and Meisiekind’s girlfriend has already thrown their volstruiswors on the coals.

Everyone is anxiously awaiting the last and newest arrival.

At last, the guys arrives and digging into his braai bag promptly and proudly displays his own hand rolled sushi. “Gee, even the sashimi looks handrolled”, Derek remarks as keen as ever…

Initially a stunned silence hangs around Frans Ludeke’s braai area, but this is swiftly replaced by howls of outrage from players at this complete disregard for the Bulls braai reels, particularly rule 1 that states that no seafood is allowed at a Bulls Braai. “Moenie jou WP maniere hie kom uithaal nie”, Joost shouts from bathroom (hey, how did he slip in unnoticed?).

Wynie chips in and without spilling a single drop of his drink, quotes braai rule 13 (b) that states that any rice dish has to be prepared by a member of the fairer sex, word for word.

In the chaos that follows, the new recruit scrambles up the nearest down pipe, rips off his shirt to reveal a t-shirt with a slogan in Japanese that no one can quite make out and then, at the top of his voice and the Ludeke’s roof belts out “If you knew Sushi like I know Sushi….!!!”

For the more sensitive souls, fortunately no roof tiles are damaged in the whole exercise.

    And the new player is…?
