Tasmin Montgomery has withdrawn the assault charge against her husband.

Reports are emerging that the Springbok kicking coach was arrested over the weekend for allegedly assaulting his wife Tasmin.Monty appeared in the Verulem Magistrates Court on Monday and was released on bail. Monty allegedly squeezed his wife’s leg and threw a punch at her. According to reports the couple were visiting Montgomery’s parents in law in Umhlanga, after a lot of alcohol had been drunk, Monty and his wife started to argue and he allegedly punched her and assaulted his father-in-law.

UPDATE:

It now appears that Tamsin has withdrawn charges against Percy.

SARU is expected to make a public statement later today.

From the Rugby-Talk web site, we hope this issue is resolved and want to wish the couple well in resolving ther dispute. We would have been amiss had we not covered the newsworthy story though.

Percy is and remains a rugby-legend in SA.

    @Greenpoint-Gunner

    I wanted to write something about my thoughts on the Bulls, but that sums it up quite nicely.

  • 152

    @Tripples – WP moet hoop dat hulle wel top of the log eindig. Weet nie of hulle Bulle & Sharks 2 weke in `n ry sal klop nie. Die spanne wat 2de en 3rde eindig gaan sukkel om die CC te wen – 2 moerse games in `n ry.

    150@Greenpoint-Gunner – Hehehe, nice FIRST post ever from you… hehehe

    @grootblousmile
    Thank you – most kind. Tell him if he wants to study a localised microcosmic sampling he simply needs to observe the car park at a Bulls game … From what I understand the quantity of meat present is sufficient to keep most farmers children in private school all year never mind the hops growers who support “Castle” 😉

    Intersting footnote – Capetown will not host a 3N game in 2010.

    “and assaulted his afther in law”

    Wat is ‘n ‘afther in law’ ? Na Monthy met sy skoonpa klaar is, is hy ‘n ‘afther in law’ ? 😉

    Hi.

    Maybe Monty was fighting his wife over their lipstick or a shared powder puff.

    We are having a few toots right now, preparing for some serious drinking starting @ 12h30.

    @Blackboy Shithole
    Sounds good… just as long as you can still see tonights massacre…

  • 158

    FECKING DISGUSTING Seems all that glitters is not gold

  • 159

    @Blackboy Shithole – Speak ill of Percy and you will have to deal with the wrath of Carol….Very strange nic btw!

  • 160

    @Blackboy Shithole – No she was tired and didnt feel like bleaching his hair and then there was the fighting over the miror. 😀

    @Treehugger – Now, now – the lovely Tasmin may not be as lovely as she appears. She talks about “Karma” in an article that I read. Any one that talks about star signs and Karma would really get on my wick too!! :reallyangry:

    Let’s hear Percys side of the story!

  • 162

    In all honesty… this is realy sad and bad news, last time we heard this sort of news it was Earle Rose, also playing fullback.
    I also played fullback, shit I’ll have to go and warn my wife…

  • 163

    Yes yes everyone!
    So, this is the weekend when we enter the final straights in the CC race.
    Should be good, especially WP/Lions.

    @carol – No Carol, there is never any exscuse that can be given for a man to bash a women no matter how much provoked. If that were the case my hub would give me a smack and my friends hubs would give them a smack as well.

    Smacking women does not go down well with most men in this country
    as it is deemed cowardly and just shows that the man feels inferior and reacts in a way that makes him feel superiour.

  • 165

    Oh Good Grief, Percy has got Tasmins name tattood on his six pack!!!! 😉

    I have a picture to prove this!!

  • 166

    @Treehugger – What we very often don’t hear is how women slap their husbands and are astonished if they get a return shot!!

    No we must reserve judgement…..a sharp and vicious tongue in a woman is a nasty weapon too !!!

  • 167

    I seem to recall Monty’s old man (George I think his name was) used to be quite an ol’ rooster himself, after a few snorts.
    George was a good sportsman also, scrummie for the then SWA and NWC, ran a fish and chips shop in Walvisbay later in life after retiring from the railways, if memory serves.

  • 168

    @Treehugger

    Agree 100%, not saying Percy was as fault in whatever led to the incident, but defenatly NO excuses !

  • 169

    @carol – You know what they say ” Sticks and stones can break your bones but words can never harm me”

    For this to go as far as the Police station it must have been very bad, and considering he is high profile i dont think it was something that would have happend over a minor incident.

  • 170

    @carol – lifting one’s hands for a woman is a no-no!! Just walk away. U know how many times I had to walk away from the big mamas at loftus? 🙂

  • 171

    @carol

    Also true, should be no slapping either way…

  • 172

    I expected this from a blue bulls player….. WP players will only abuse their boyfriends…..

  • 173

    @Blouste – You are a true South African gentleman, here is a :beer: for you :-))

  • 174

    @K9-MonsterLeeu
    Thats different, you walked away because you know you were on your way to a hiding… 🙂

  • 175

    @Treehugger
    Yip, must have been serious…..not good news this, but let’s se how it pans out.
    I hope the whole thing can be resolved and buried, for Percy’s sake.
    The man is an icon, don’t want him to end up like Maradonna and those boys.

  • 176

    @Treehugger
    Cheers

  • 177

    @K9-MonsterLeeu – That must be where all the bumps on the back of your head have their origin! Dagse woef!

  • 178

    @Blouste – hahaha…too true!!

  • 179

    @Blouste – hehe…def!!!! Bit of a weight advantage they have 🙂

  • 180

    @Pietman – Would never expect that from Percy. But Roids is a bugger!!
