Right, the day has finally arrived! Only minutes… and counting to the kick-off of the 2009 Currie Cup Final between the Blue Bulls and Free State Cheetahs.
The Bulls enter this game as firm favourites, at home with a record this year second to none. Sure, they only finished third on the CC log but they have a shining Super 14 title to show for their efforts thus far and they are playing the team that came fourth…and only because of a points difference! If you want to put the house on it you will be mad to go anything else than the Bulls.
And for the Cheetahs, well they have been there, done that, literally! It is not the first time they will be visiting Loftus as underdogs and we know what happened last time it happened. Will they be good enough again and will Ollie be on the sideline with a few cigars to hand out after 80 minutes? Time will tell but I think it will be a toss between the boot of Morne Steyn and the magic of Heinrich Brussow with a little Kaplan to mix it all up and make it a memorable occasion for all.
And the winner…? Will tell you after 80 minutes of rugby but my money on the team that scores the most points! Enjoy!

Wie het net nou wat gese oor die Bulle se skrum?????????
Daar … die vrystaat se skrum.
Hi TH and Puma
Thanks, I do a lot more reading than blogging. You will be happy to hear I am also a shark like you.
This game is being shown on SKY here in the UK and I can’t help thinking that the poms must be amazed at how hardcore this rugby is compared to theirs. SA rugby looking good
Cheetahs playing stupid here. They must have about 70% possession and getting a huge klap here. Slow it down and maybe they will get some points.
That Morne Steyn must be the best kicker at posts in world rugby. Pleased he is South African and our FH at the Boks.
127 – Hulksmash,
Well then a very, very big welcome my Sharkie mate.
Good to have you blog with us. There are a few from the UK that blog here too.
Ja, this is the best domestic rugby you will see anywhere in the world. Pity Sharks are not there but that how it goes. Maybe next year mate.
Unfortunetly these teams look like chalk and cheese, the Bulls do have the X factor.
Stegman should hsve been yellowed for that, Habana too.
How about that punch? Send the Bulls off.

I thought it was a punch too but you know after watching again not so sure. It could be but not sure.
Must be a yellow for an early tackle, but no the Bulls have the ref in the pocket again.
