The Lions are approaching saturday’s clash against Province as a final.
The Lions know it’s their last game of the season, but would like to end the season with a win over top of the log Province. This is the statement from Lions lock Franco van der Merwe. “It is another Currie Cup game and we are approaching it on it’s merits. We are approaching it like a final.”
Van der Merwe believes that his side has shown steady improvement, with their best performance against a Springbok filled Sharks side last saturday.
“We are ready for them and positive. It’s going to be a good game because they are on form. We left ourselves with too much to do in saturday’s game,” said van der Merwe.”We should have performed better earlier in the season and not have lost to Griquas. Things improved in the second half of the competition, but it was too late.”
Good news fror the Lions, is that all the players that were struggling with injuries, have all been back on the training field, except for Kevin Buys. His injury is not too serious, and is expected to train tomorrow.
The only player that will not be up for selection is Alwyn Hollenbach who is still struggling with a hamstring injury.
