“Our success is that we scrum for each other” Those are the words of Coenie Oosthuizen, replacement prop, of the victorious Cheetahs front row that decimated the Springbok / Sharks front row on Saturday.

The Cheetahs blew the defending Champs out of the water with a complete forward display. It has always been said that the game is won upfront, and it was never truer than on Saturday at Kings Park. The young Cheetahs prop gave credit to Os Du Randt, Naka Drotske and the lock pairing of Breedt and De Villiers when asked about the devastating demolition of the Sharks scrum.

” Wian had already broken Smit, by the time I got onto the field, it made my job so much easier. Wian is a machine.”

“WP really hurt The Beast and there are few props who can say that, WP was a superstar.”

All week the Cheetahs had been saying that they would target the Sharks scrum, and it went even better than what they expected.

WP Nel comments  “it was the first time that I have scrummed against The Beast, he is very big and strong and usually scrums the hell out of his opponents when playing for the Boks, I am very satisfied with how things went for us.”

” Scrumming is an 8 man effort and we are all happy with our efforts”, so says Wian Du Prezz the starting Loosehead prop.

The Cheetahs look forward to the final game of the Currie Cup when they meet a Bulls scrum which has, like the Sharks, blown hot and cold this season.
