WP will face the Leopards, Boland and possibly the Lions without ironman Schalk Burger.
The departure of Chris Jack and the injuries to Fondse and Van Zyl, has come at an unfortunate time in view of other teams being bolstered by their returning Boks. The tight five that have shocked a few arch enemies and their supporters who vocally love to hate anything south of the Hex River valley, may find it more difficult to impose themselves to the same extent that they muted the noise levels of Loftus and ABSA stadium earlier this season.
The medical news on Burger is that his ribs are still severely swollen and tender after his injury in the 67th minute of SA’s Tri Nations win against NZ last Saturday.
To make matters worse for the resurgent WP outfit, the injuries to Willem de Waal, Fondse and Newman have been confirmed as long term, which means they will not play any further part this season. Andries Bekker is still on the mend and will also miss Friday’s excursion to Potchefstroom.
The substantial vacuum left by Jean de Villiers will also be felt, but fortunately Juan de Jong has shown huge potential in midfield, and his pairing with Frikkie Welsh looked sharp and attacked with pace against the Cheetahs last weekend.
Ricky January will be rested this weekend. Allister Coetzee did not elaborate on what the cause of his fatigue was. It is doubtful whether his current form can justify displacement of the incumbent Dewaldt Duvenhage.
De Kock Steenkamp will fill the void left by Chris Jack in the engine room, and Tiaan Liebenberg will join Hilton Lobberts on the bench.
“We wanted to keep that continuity going,” Coetzee said at the media conference on Tuesday.
“Making a lot of changes at this stage can be disruptive. We are definitely looking to consolidate”
This where the rubber hits the road, and where the walk should be walked, and the talk be left to those who mask their fear by making snide comments about the shadows as they walk down a dark alley.
@KingPaul – Hiho KP didnt really understand most of what you wrote but i did get the Culture part and in my best afrikaans i say KULTUUR SE GAT :LOL:

The problem that I have with sites generally is that you only see one small aspect of the blogger’s character – and sadly its often not the person’s best side either.
You don’t get to see how that blogger interacts and cares for his/her family and loved ones, you get no feel for their personal dreams, fears and expectations etc, in other words their ‘normal’ side.
I don’t know why that is. I don’t know why people want to project only the common human fault line on sites. Its really easy to be contentious and rude and it takes little or no skill to do so.
Anyway….:-(
@Treehugger – EINA!!!!!!
@fender – think it is bcos of the anonimity (sp?) sometimes brings out the worst in people…
Have made some good friends though that we start emailing each other and even meeting up for coffee etc, GBS and a few play gof together etc…..

So, what’s cooking in the kitchen and how was Rupert’s gig last night?
@fender – I do understand what you are saying, thats why i never blogged before cause your personality doesnt really come through with a few short words unless you have the ability to do it i know i dont.
But i tell you what, from reading that site for so long every evening as if it was a book i learnt a lot and the Bulls supporters came across as nice fun people who were family oriontated (sp) that dont back down in conflict but did give people a fair shake until they became ugly and then got ugly back.
But most people from Transvaal i have met have been fantastic even when we drove up for the Rolling Stones Concert, we had total strangers offering the binnoculers pouring us booze that they had smuggled in and just really nice.
halloooooooo kitty kat
There r some bloggers on here who I never really liked. Since meeting them in person I like them even less
@K9-MonsterLeeu – #68 bwaaahahahaha fortunately you have not met me in person yet!!!!!
@Tripples – halloooo tripswitch!!!
@Tripples – i dont get along with bulls supporters in general so the prognoses isnt good 🙂
@Tripples – Was crawling in the donga again looking for the porcinpine we rescued from a snare last week and brought back to our property and then released it few days later, felt something on my shoulder brushed it away and got whacked a few times on the hand.
@fender –
Funny thing is that most of these bloggers having a go at each other (Bulls/WP) are great buddies, they play golf together, have bbq’s together, some even live in the same neighbourhood!
So, don’t take it too seriously.
My last visit to Newlands we had Isi, GBS, KP, Trupi, Karen, AB, K9, GBSBonzai, Isi Jnr, Ex-Player, Boerboel, Kwagga, Cuzzy, Thys, some with their wifes and girlfriends…all around the fire behind the N-Stand since 10 in the morning and then again after the match(WP/Bulls) till looooong after the midnite hour…just to give you an idea.
We ended up in Stellenbosch!
@Tripples – 59
Tripples, once again you have demonstrated why you are in my book one of the most pleasant Bulls supporters I have had the pleasure of exchanging banter and friendly insults with!
Your posts are an example to all bloggers here – you support your team with passion, but you are always civil and well mannered. Respect from this orthodontically advantaged Capie!
@K9-MonsterLeeu – #71 I know I know, but it is surely your loss as I have a wonderful personality 😆
@SA Barbarians –
Orthodontically advanced?
Wa het djy daai tanne gestiel, ek se 🙂
@K9-MonsterLeeu –
Het jy die ‘Gansbaai Saloon’ getjek?
@Tripples – me too. Ask Pietman 😕
@Pietman – gaat hom nou kyk…..
@Tripples –
Google ‘Gansbaai Saloon’, jy sal ons daar sien….
@SA Barbarians – #74 Dankie man, waardeer dit, right back at you!!!!
@Pietman – 76
@Tripples – 75
Now where have I heard “but she has such a nice personality”
OK ok I’m only joking! I am sure you are soft on the eyes too 🙂
Treehugger and Pietman,
No, I’m kool. As I explained earlier on this thread my friendship circle includes supporters of all teams and the variety adds spice to our gettogethers.
And I’ve met and made great friends on other sites (that are not sport related). The cammeraderie on some of the music sites is brilliant. And I’ve learnt so much in the process…as I hope to do here too. Morne’s input has been brilliant in that respect.
@Polla –
Ken jy hom, nice toppie gewees?
@SA Barbarians – maybe in my youth hehehehehehehe, ek pas nie meer in my lyf nie 😆
@Pietman – Yup..Dit was Oom Poy…’n legend…My Pa se ouer broer en my Oom.
@The-Pill – nee dis ‘n feit hehehehehehe
